What are mung beans you asked? Well, mung beans are small, oval and green in color. They are a staple in India but are also used in Asia. Mung beans can be eaten whole, with or without their skins, or sprouted and thrown into salads. As for the health benefits of mung beans, according to Corrine Netzer’s Encyclopedia of Food Values, in 1/2 cup of cooked mung beans, there are:
Calories: 95
Total Fat: 0.5g
Carbohydrates: 16.5g
Fiber: 1.2g
Protein: 6.8g
… pretty healthy eh? They are also easy to digest and they do not make you feel gassy unlike other beans.
