Entering Lifting Exercises

Does anyone know the difference in calories exerted with cardio as opposed to weight lifting? I feel like it is a total pain to go through and enter each lift exercise I do in order to show my calories lost so I tend to just use my whole work out time as "cardio" in my diary.
Is this totally messing up the number of calories I am actually burning?
