no success this week

I haven't cheated on the diet at all this week ,sticking to my 1200-1400 cal and working out 5 days/week so I'm unsure as to why I've not lost a single thing this week! So I was wondering if all women hold on to water just before menstruation, as it's due any day and I really hope this is the reason for the scales not shifting? Any advice/experience in this would be fantastic.
I still have 10lbs to shift, am so fired up and motivated, but it's so depressing when I work out every day, eat all the right things and those damn scales just won't move...

Your body does retain water right before a cycle. I can always tell when I'm within a week... Don't give up, your doing all the right things. Keep the motivation up. I have 10 more pounds to go myself and I'm at a stand still, but I think that's because of the special events that have happened in the past 7 days. Eating more than I should and not being able to work the calories off....0

I FINALLY broke through a 3 week plateau today so I know how frustrating it can be when you do all the right things and see no progress on the scale. Just keep up all your hard work and try to stay focused on the healthier lifestyle you're living right now. The scale may not go down but if your fitness levels are up and you're healthier, your weight shouldn't be so discouraging.0

I notice their is about a week here and there where I won't lose any weight.. even though I'm doing my best.. then the next week I've lost 2lbs..0

Sometimes my body does that too!
It's like it just hangs on to it for some reason, but if I keep up at what I'm doing or mix it up a little, it always goes away eventually. Happened to me for the past 2 weeks. Had my cycle then to. I decided to really make sure that I watched my sodium levels too and POOF 2lbs down this week. I attribute it to my TOM and the sodium.0 -
You will retain water around TOM (Time of the month). I usually go up anywhere from 1 to 3 lbs around that time. It will all drop off next week plus some. Keep drinking your water and working out; it will all work out. Just don't give up!!! This is a rough time for everyone because the scale usually doesn't move and goes up most of the time. Keep doing your thing, it will happen.0

YES!! When the scale isn't moving, I make sure to measure that week - that's when I notice I'm shrinking!! LOL0 -
Don't give up! You're doing great! My body retains about 5 pounds!! of water right before my period...it's totally normal. Hang in there and I bet in a couple of weeks you'll see a big drop! Best of luck!0

Keet up the good work. this happened to two of my coworkers, we are dieting/excersicing, but since we work in the same office, our cycles are all the same week. we all 'gained' 1-2 lbs each. it was frustrating and one of the girls was really down. but we are expecting good results next week if we just keep it up.0

I never lose weight on the weeks when I am menstrating! Just keep exercising, drinking water and next week you'll see the results you're looking for Also, your body could be getting more muscular. Muscle weighs more than fat so a non-moving scale could mean really healthy and awesome things for your body!0

I also agree! Generally for around a week each month I show no weight loss and then the following week it'll be down by around 2-3 lbs. Definitely the wonderful TOM!0
