This i puzzling me, I've googled and most things just say basically what we are all doing, dieting, eating good, getting exercise etc to lose weight. However I have some really skinny friends, who's body fat is HIGHER than mine, they don't look toned, they are just skinny. How on earth do you achieve skinny + low body fat?
I'm going to use Megan Fox as an example (obviously she is incredible and no one could ever get to her level haha) but just to show you what I mean here is a pic - http://www.tmrzoo.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/megan-fox-beach-candid-10.jpg
She is SO slim, but her stomach is just...nothing there! It's SO flat HOW does someone get that!? It's not like she looked 'ripped' and manly, shes so slender.

Lift weights.
It won't make you big and bulky.
Thats the only way to have a low body fat and look good.0 -
Megan Fox is a freak of nature... but that's all due to her super high metabolism. She exercises to keep weight on actually... just so you know.0

I think Megan Fox looks awful. Don't aim for that!0

Boggles me that you would say that. We can all get to that level. It just takes time, dedication, and perseverance. I'll get there. Don't know when, but I will.
I'll continue to eat healthy to lose more weight. As I do this I will continue to lift heavy weights and push myself to the limit. I'm building lean muscle so when the fat leaves, I'll look good!0 -
she without a doubt has the best body I have ever seen. I have the biggest girl crush on her.0

Well, if you had Megan Fox money, you'd be able to hire a kick *kitten* personal trainer for 6 days a week and personal chef too, that's how stars can do it.
But anyway, Yep, add resistance (see anaerobic training and/or weight training) to your routine, and eat a super clean, super healthy diet with (if you need to lose weight) a very modest calorie deficit, that's how you do it.0 -
I'm not sure what your definition of "low" is. From what I've ever read, for a woman being below 12-14% has no real benefit. Lifting weights is important for decreasing body fat, however, the most important thing in lowering body fat is by tearing your diet apart and really putting the macro nutrients under a microscope. Bodybuilders talk about it all the time.0

I think the secret is eating frequent small "mini" meals of lean proten with complex carbs. By doing this, your meals will be very low fat. I have been working with a sports nutritionist as well as attending a exercise bootcamp which has helped me a lot.0

People who are thin but have a high % body fat are called skinny-fat. You dont want to be that, trust me. If you do workouts that will tone your body and not bulk it up, your on the right track! the best way ive found to not bulk up is to use resistance training which can be done with resistance bands or light weights. This will strengthen and tone your muscles which will also help burn more body fat! Hope this helps!0

I think she's too thin and doesn't look healthy, just my honest opinion. I want to tone, even after I hit goal weight, but I don't want to be skinny like that. I want to look healthy and keep some of my curviness. And, if I showed my husband that picture and told him that's what I wanted to look like he would FREAK OUT!!! He does not find that kind of skinny attractive at all. He supports what I'm doing because he knows its important to me, but he's very thankful that's not the look I'm shooting for0

The one thing that has always baffled me (I should probably do a new topic for this) but if you have weight to lose, I want to lose 20lb, is there any point in me doing work on my abs right now? when i'm still 20lb away fro my goal weight? my stomach is not nice right now unless i'm standing up, and i don't wanna just tone under my fat? should I wait till I get nearer my goal weight? I do not want to have one of those toned stomachs that still stick out, most of the woman trainers at my gym have these, I just want to be really slender.0

Here's the thing. Women don't bulk up. Trust me. you guys don't have the testosterone to bulk up. You'd have to be making a VERY concerted effort to put on large volumes (relatively speaking) of muscle mass. Lift heavy weight if you're going to lift weight, as heavy as you can, lifting light weight does not activate all of the muscle, it fatigues the muscle, but thats not the same thing. I can go in depth if people want, but trust me, light weight lots of reps doesn't do nearly as much as heavy weight less reps for muscle building activity (NOT muscle bulking, muscle building).0 -
i think its just her figure. She looks like she carries her weight round her legs rather than her tummy. Not that shes carrying much there at all, but she looks like a very slim pear shape, so shes bound to have a flat tummy. I wouldnt have said she looks like shes got an abnormally low body fat though0

I agree. Lifting lite takes longer to tone and also is done more for endurance. You want to shred your muscles by lifting heavy. You burn fat and tone faster.0 -

I realize that most women do not bulk up, and some do. without the aid of "juice". i dont need to lift anything and i use a resistance band and am gaining muscle like crazy. that was the only advice i had to offer according to my experience.0
