Is Too Much Fruit a Bad Thing?

I love fruit... on a normal day, I usually eat a banana for a mid morning snack and some berries for an afternoon snack. This usually works out well for me. I may throw in a pear, kiwi, or orange on top of that throughout the day. Today I noticed I ate a lot more fruit because it was available. It was so delicious I found myself eating more and more of it. I had a mixed fruit bowl with catelope, pineapple, strawberries, and blueberries. I noticed my sugar for today is around 87g...mostly from the fruit I ate! Does anyone know if this is bad for you and if too much fruit gives you too much sugar?

I don't think anyone has ever gotten fat from eating fruit! i don't get to crazy with carb control...I think we are meant to eat fruit rather than processes carbs like bread. I eat 3-5 pieces a day and continue to lose body fat!0

I would eat more fruits that aren't so high in sugar. I eat bananas rarely just because they are full of sugar. I save them for when I need energy for a run or something. I would think fruit like apples, oranges, berries, and grapefruit would be better for you...That's just my opinion.0

Like another poster said, your not going to get fat from eating too much fruit.
My moms trainer told her that she should have no fruit after like 4 pm or something.. so until that point hits, go ahead and eat the fruit. I generally eat strawberries, apples and Cuties. All are low in sugar and help keep me full0 -
fruits always going to be good for you but try and stick to, like people above have already said, things that aren't full of sugar unless you know it will be burnt off. try making a smoothie with half fruit and half skimmed milk - that way it's still fruity but less fruit and you get the calcium from the milk...just an idea0

I agree with what others have said- fruit's good for you. Eat it. (you might consider whether you should cut down on less-healthy carbs to compensate, though, like breads, pastas, sweets, etc.)0

most people on here don't stress on the natural sugars so much as added sugar.0

Too much of anything is a bad thing. Moderation is key. If you eat 30 apples a day, you'll gain weight. The key is just a well balanced spread from all food groups while sticking to a calorie goal.0

Be sure you're brushing your teeth often enough. While too much fruit can't really be a bad thing, all of that extra sugar and citric acid is bad for your teeth.0

Fruit is filled with dietary fiber, which most people dont get enough of. Yes, it has sugar, but it is natural sugar. I freaked out too when I would see that I was always over in sugar until I realized that it hasnt hurt me.0

agree..
if you don´t suffer from diabetes (I do), you can eat a little more i guess0 -
Fruit has its benefits of providing nutrients and fiber. Fructose is just a minor thing unless you have issues with it, such as being diabetic. As stated, brush your teeeef!0

I go with whole fruits only. Dried fruit and fruit juice are too calorie dense, and the fiber is important in the whole fruit.0

Fruit will make you fat - almost any food you eat will make you fat. Sure, you'll get bored eating enough lettuce to make you fat but munch out on pears, kiwis, oranges, and apples and you'll probably see the scale going in the "wrong" direction.0
