Squats aren't hurting

When I first started doing any kind of squats ( like in 30 day shred ) I thought I was going to die. Now I do them and I don't feel anything when I do them... Am I doing something wrong, or is it because I have strengthened my muscles and I'm used to it? Are the squats still effective if I don't feel anything from them? Thanks!

I find the same thing. I have to go a whole lot lower in the squat to feel anything. Try going lower and/or staying down longer.

Try to get lower into your squat if doing a standing squat. You can also do squat jumps (start in a squat, jump as high as you can, land in a squat). Or add weights as someone suggested. You probably have built up the gluts and need to add more to feel it. Good luck!

I do use 5lb weights, I usually do Turbo Sculpt and she says to use 3-5lb weights. I def. feel it in my arms, but my legs not at all. I can definitely feel it when I do lunges!! haha

Yep, more weight is the way to go. My trainer has me hold a 45 lb kettle bell and do squats now since regular old squats just don't cut it. 45 lbs is like 2/3 of what I've lost so far! And sure enough I feel the after effects of those squats for the next few days...

I jumped to using 12 lbs weights on each side....and then if when that got old, I moved to squat & curl

I agree with the others add weights, go deeper, change it up and do different variations of squats/lunges. Something my trainer has me do is on the last rep of every set is stay as down as long as I can and pulsate, this fatigues the muscle and burns it out. It is a killer you should definately feel that!
