I've always been into the Goth look, even when I was little I was borrowing my brothers spikes and tripp pants, wearing black lipstick when my mom wasn't around, and by the time I was thirteen I was into everything about it. The look, hairstyles, makeup, and more importantly, the music.

There are things, that because of my weight, I feel I can't do.
Like get the haircut I've always wanted (mohawk'ish), Dye my hair midnight blue, and not to mention the type of clothes I love...to me they wouldn't look right on someone of my figure.
I want to start carrying myself with more pride, and honestly, I need to be healthier.
But I'd like to do it with people, I've never had support for weight loss before, I would really appreciate having some now.
My names Kate.

I don't know enough about the Goth way of life but I do know I love the look. If I was younger I'd probably dress like that or emo or rockabilly punk. However I'm 65 so a little old for that now.
I do want to wish you the best and you're just coming to this site is the first step. You "can" do this!

I was through and through Goth when I was around 18 and I guess Iam still Goth. Ok..in my job I cannot spike my hair up (that's what I used to do) but most of my clothes are sill black. Of course I still listen to the same sort of music.....Once a Goth always a Goth

I am rock-a-billy style and I am big. I don't let it get in the way. I dye my hair CONSTANTLY and could care less what others think. I am on my journey so I don't die before my son knows his mommy. I am all for self expression so feel free to add me.

Yeah I've had that trouble with my nieces and nephew.
Chasing after a three year old in combat boots and chained jeans can be a bit difficult.

YAY you!! Do what you do, and don't stress it! I go with my mood usually, though I will admit I have not worn my blacklipstick since ... oh Samhain. *nods* So if a person is 13, 30, 19, or 90 ...... 90 pounds - 900 pounds ... do what you like. It's your life live it, or miss out! (just don't get fired for it  )

Wow, I haven't considered myself goth in ages. (Now I have realised I am much to insane for that and find myself leaning towards Diesel-Zombie-Medival-Post Apocolyptic-Victorian-Tribal-Military-Art Deco-Viking-Grunge-Cyber-Ragamuffin-Heathen-Vintage-Glamabilly. Yea, think about that for a minute... Thank goodness for t shirts and jeans.) Not since the yuppies got ahold of it. Brings back memories though. There was a time when goth was kind to chubby people, not anymore. XD Great now I feel old. Ha ha...

But really don't let how you think others are looking at you stop from being bad-*kitten* in all things. I mean getting in shape is great and I wish you the best. But don't be afraid to be what you want, its not worth it. Fear is nothing but poo.

So yea, add me if you want...

(Also I have waist length very thick hair. Once I dyed it all blazing hot pink with a jet black stripe in front because nobody thought I was ballsy enough to. Well I did, and got compliments everywhere I went. So do what others are afraid of and they won't even notice that your big.)

What she said - but I am a retired punk/Goth...:ohwell: Going more for the "eccentric yet stylish" look as the years pile up...lol

And by the way, if you want a mohawk by all means go for it! I had one about 30 years ago - and I think EVERY woman should know what her head looks like without hair!
  • Of course I'm totally saying "yay" to losing weight and being healthier, but . . . not sure where you live (yah I could have looked before hitting reply but didn't, whoops), here in San Francisco three are tons of hot zaftig goth girls in corset, sexy clothes, etc. Sure, sometimes I see some very large woman in a very small dress and thing gee, I don't think I'd make that fashion choice. But I have found in general that the goth/industrial/fetish scene is very accepting of all body types. Fwiw.

I'm not a goth, per se, but have what has been come to be regarded as a goth aesthetic, since long before goths were 'invented'!

I have to admit that I'm not at all a fan of goth music (unless it's Voltaire!) but I am a big fan of people - regardless of age and size - being able to dress in a manner which they feel expresses their personality!

Feel free to add me if you want!

I was Goth before they called it "Goth". Back in the late 80s/early 90s, we were just freaks! Still wear my docs though. Favorite band will always be the Cure, no matter what age I am. I was always a chunk, even back then, but I made a lot of my own clothes, added/changed stuff up, and wore a lot of guy's stuff (trenchcoats, black blazers, tuxedo shirts, etc).

I suppose some people would label me goth but i don't like labels :(
I've always just done my own thing, like shaving my head at hairdressing college! I know what you mean about feeing uncomfortable in 'goth' fashions. When i was a teenager the clubs etc we're full of all body types & curvier ladies we're actively sought out. These days like the rest of society thin seems to be the only way to be, i would hate to try to buy 'goth'clothes these days i have serious curves!
Good luck with your journey, i hope you get everything you need from this site x

I've been called this (both goth and a chubby one too boot! lol) many a times. I'm a bit of everything really I suppose, if I were to think about it? But I don't. I'm me, and I'm pretty awesome. And that's all there is to say. :)

haha once upon a time. now I am a soccer mom so that life is behind me. The pants and clothes are not always functional with tots running around and being I live in small town iowa its not quite as accepted as a cultural norm and I think I'd miss getting invited to neighborhood events but its awesome you are so confident!
