Suggestions for adding cals when WAY UNDER?

Ok, so I forgot to bring lunch to work today & instead of snacking mindlessly on chips and what-not, I ate my rice cakes and almonds that were in my desk. I came home and checked the weather & found out I HAD to MOW THE GRASS today or it's not getting done. I have already mowed 1/4 of my 3 acre yard (push mowed) and have been at it for 80 mins. MFP says I burned almost 500 cals, bringing my total ABOVE WHAT I STARTED AT!!!

Anyone have any suggestions for something worthwhile to eat to try to get my cals in, without being totally unhealthy? Second problem is, it's now 6:45 p.m. & I'm gonna have to keep mowing until dark just to get it 1/2 done, and by then I don't want to eat "crap" before bed?

Is it really that important? Should I not worry about it, and consider today a "cheat" day (the opposite way)? Suggestions, advice, kicks in the pants....all appreciated.

I'll be checking back to you all in another hour or so!

THANKS AGAIN!

peanut butter, a sweet potato, nuts, a glass of milk.
Over all I wouldn't worry too much about it. 1 day of being way under isn't going to destroy your metabolism.

Whenever I have a lot of calories left over, I go straight for a jar of peanut butter. You could try putting some on crackers or celery and that could make up for a lot of those calories you burned today.

You could cheat, or you could do mashed avocado with onion and fresh garlic and dip in carrots, eat it on a pita, cucumbers...eat nuts, bananas. In the future I would stash some protein bars or something like that for days like this.. :)

If you're hungry, eat something like peanut butter and banana on toast, or some soup or avocado or almonds.
But, if you aren't specially hungry I would let it go. I am a fan of eating enough (incuding exercise calories) but life doesn't always work very neatly and I don't think one day makes a difference.

thanks for the advice everyone!!! I am done, it's 8:45p - I'm glad I don't have to worry about trying to force myself to eat a ton right now. I don't have any avacado, which was a big suggestion, so I'm going with nutella on a dinner roll, almonds, water (of course) and I might have a small dish of the cabbage, carrot, ham, potato, onion soup stuff my husband just brought home from his mother's. I'm SURE that dish is LOADED with cals, so I can eat it tonight without guilt!!
