I see this on the message boards and have yet to figure it out? Someone please tell me what does it mean when you simply reply "bump" to someone's post? Thanks :-) I'm a total newbie!!

People will "bump" a posting so they can reference it later. My Fitness Pal (MFP) will keep a log of where you've made a comment, so the "bump" is used for them the user to go back an reference that page again. For example, if someone posts a great recipe you type "bump" and then you can view your profile later on to find where that recipe is located via a link.

its when you dont really have much to say yourself but you want the original poster to know that youre interested in the thread enough. when you post a bump it literally bumps your thread to the top of the most recently posted list so more people can see it and it doesn't just die and get lost.

it's simply to bump the post up. Posts with no activity get buried by new posts, so if someone wants to keep the question or whatever on the post up so people can see it (so it appears towards the top of the list) they'll bump it so it goes back up.

any reply to a post will make that thread the first thread on the first page.... So people type "bump" to get that post back to the first spot on the first page for more exposure!

    Cheers!

I think bump applies to both wanting to refer back to a link later and to show interest in the post....You are all correct =)
