IM SURE AS EVERYONE KNOWS, WHEN YOU ADD WHAT TYPE/AMOUNT OF EXERCISE YOU DID THAT DAY, THE MFP PROGRAM ADDS THOSE CALORIES TO YOUR DAILY CALORIC TOTAL. IF YOU EAT THOSE EXTRA CALORIES THAT YOU BURNED OFF DURING EXERCISE, DO YOU STILL LOSE WEIGHT? ISN'T IT A BIT COUNTERINTUITIVE TO WORK OFF THOSE CALORIES JUST TO EAT THEM TOO? I DONT KNOW ABOUT EVERYONE ELSE, BUT IF IT SAYS I HAVE AN EXTRA 600 CALORIES TO MY DAILY AMOUNT, MORE TIMES THAN NOT, I'LL STILL EAT THOSE CALORIES ... THOUGHTS?

But very simply MFP already calculates in a deficit so if you did eat them you still have a calorie deficit built in.0

MFP already gave you a deficit, you don't want to give yourself an even bigger deficit everyday, or you wont be getting enough nutrition. Google "Eating your exercise calories" to learn more.0

Eat them, you will still lose weight, MFP has calculated a deficit for you. Exercising is still good because it helps tone muscles, and makes sure you eat enough nutritients even with a high deficit.
Read the post and search the forums, already a LOT of posts on this.0 -
MPF already gives you a deficit on your calorie in take and that amount depends on how much you are looking to loose (500 cal for 1 pound per wk). even if you did no exercise you would still lose weight. If you don't eat some or all of the calories your burn you may not be getting you body enough fuel to get though the day.0

These threads explain how MFP works and how it gets the numbers it gives you. Yes, you are intended to eat those extra calories to lose the amount specified in your loss per week goal.

We sound like a broken record MFP calculates a deficit already. read the link in my signature... read other links on this website... this question is asked like 5 times a day.0

Right MFP puts calorie deficit in regardless if you workout. So if MFP tells you to eat 1400 calories a day you could eat those calories and lose weight regardless of exercise. If you exercise you are going below a "safe" deficit. Alot of people with a lot of weight to lose will see immediate results by not eating back their exercise calories, but once you get to a lower weight you might find you are not successfully losing anymore, sometimes gain. I recommend following MFP structure. There are some amazing success sotires from people on this site who follow the guidelines and have lost.
Good luck!0 -
Thanks everyone for the feedback!!! .. So thats really good that MFP doesbuild in a deficit (spelling?) in for you already .... ANOTHER QUESTION: Dont know if this has already been asked ... but how accurate is the calories that MFP calculates for you? I'm assuming they take your weight into account .. is this the only way?0

MFP uses several variables to calculate your goal/deficit. For the vast majority of people, it is a reliable calculation to set up your initial plan. Read the threads I posted if you want to know how they calculate it.0
