Video games and work outs?

Forgive me if this was posted before...

If you can't tell my my giant Hello Kitty bow, I'm pretty nerdy. I also love video games! I've been using Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus, and Just Dance to go with my work out DVD's for my cardio work out since I can hide in my Batcave and not have to go out side/to a gym where people can see me jiggle. I'm thinking of getting a Kinect for my Xbox 360 so I can get Dance Central, Zumba Fitness, and the other work out games that are available.

I'm really going at the losing weight thing blind and could really use as much advice as I can get. What do you guys think of these plans? Any suggestion? Success stories with any of these methods?

Thanks for you're time!

Nothing wrong with being geeky - geeks will one day rule the world!! (LOL - just look at my username, you can see I'm a geek too).

Grats for combining your video game love with exercising! Good idea.

I don't know if the library has fitness programs that work with Wii or X-Box, but that's always my first source for exercise videos. It's free, I can try it for a week, and I can switch up regularly. If there's one I absolutely love, I can buy it, and I'm not afraid to try something new or strange because if I hate it I'm not out any money.
Maybe a video rental/game rental place will have titles you can try for not too much money. And check out the used game section at game stores - I bet there's tons of people who gave up and then sold stuff back.

You can rent them to if just wanting to try them out. Netflix, Red Box, Blockbuster.....

IMO, I think it's a great idea! I used to work out with the Wii and moved on to the Kinect myself. The Wii can only tell you so much, seeing how it uses the wiimotes to determine everything. With the Kinect, you get a better picture of how you're doing and more guidance. I actually work out with my friends on-line, and we encourage each other the whole way through. working out is easier when you keep laughing at random jokes and noises.
No matter what you do, do what's best for you. If you can work out and have fun at the same time, I consider that a bonus!
