question about heart rate monitors

Okay, I may have asked this before, but I don't remember and I cannot find the post if I did.

My question is, how do these things work. I have one that does the heart rate and has other features but I am not sure what they are for. Is one of them for calories? If the feature says CA?

How accurate is this if it is. Am I really burning the number it states.

It's one from target for about 60 or so.

Anyone who may know how this works please let me know.

What is the brand and model number?

Since they can vary so much by brand and model number, I would google the manufacturer, and then look for the model specifications for that monitor. Good luck!
