Hi, my name's Marie and I'm totally new to this online support thing. I don't really know what all to say in here, but I'm 5'9, 21 (22 next week!), and a full time student. Right now I weigh 165 and my goal weight is 127. Up until my senior year of high school I weighed around 155. Then I gained about 50 pounds between the end of my junior year and the end of my freshman year at college. I lost 40 pounds and have been maintaining at about 165 for like 6 months now, and I'm just really ready to get over this plateau. I've started jogging again, which is good, even though I can't go very far yet. I tend to eat either really healthy or really badly, so I'm trying to focus more on getting back on track after I cheat instead of just saying I'll start eating better tomorrow. That's just a little bit about me, if anyone has any tips or anything that would be great! Also, I'm wondering how often I should weigh myself and take my measurements? And does anyone know how much weight I could lose in 2 months if I'm eating around 1,200 calories, walking/running 2 miles 6 days a week, and lifting weights for 30 minutes 3-4 times a week? I'm going on vacation in 2 months and would love to be close to my goal weight by then (I know I can't reach my goal, but I'm just wondering how close I could get?) Thanks everyone! :)

You goal seems aweful low since it seems you have not been there in almost 6 years. Getting down to or below the 155/150 pint is very doable with proper diet. Remember that weight workout will help with muscle build--but calorie burn of fat is going to come from that cardio burn. You will need to slowly bump up time/distance not necessarily speed. I would reccomend looking into Joe Galloway's Marathon Program--not to doa marathon but to look at his run/walk concept. This is an incredible way to build up endurance, strngth and burn those fat calories away while staying in a zone that keeps you going everyday.

My goal is pretty low, but I feel like I can eventually reach it, it's just going to take a lot of hard work, time, and dedication. I've never been that low as an adult actually; I was always a little bit chubby. I'm actually interested in training to complete a marathon, so I love the marathon program idea! I looked it up and am going to start it after I get through finals week. Thanks!

    Welcome!

Your goal weight does seem low, but hey, why not shoot for something you really want, right? :)

I, too, am training for a marathon. I am hoping to do a half marathon on Oct. 15 and a full one by spring of 2012. If you need any advice, encouragement or just someone to complain to about how hard it is to run 26 miles and NOT die, feel free to add me.

    Good luck!
