I really like salsa on my salad. It's full of flavor with nearly no calroies. Just watch out for the sodium.

I got a dried mix of red & green bell peppers with white onions.. it is AMAZING on salad.. since it's dried all that flavor is packed in a small area. Really, it tastes similar to bacon bits, to me, on a salad. -- All the other toppings I like have been mentioned. 1 slice of bacon isn't bad in itself.. that might be a decent thing to add to salad for the flavor.

My friend made his own salad dressing out of fresh garlic cloves, sundried red bell peppers (generally I found these jarred in oil at the store), and balsamic vinegar. Run that through the blender and it makes a very flavorful, zesty salad dressing at very low calories.

I make ranch dressing out of the Hidden Valley packets but use 3/4 of the mayo as fat free mayo, to 1/4 of real mayo and use unflavored almond milk. It's as low as I can get while still retaining flavor of real ranch.

I have a few go to salads:

    1. Mixed greens with grilled chicken, avocado, 1 slice bacon, tomato and salsa.
    2. Baby spinach with craisins, walnut (half ounce), apple/pear, and a protein like salmon or chicken.

I could probably put anything on a salad and be happy with it. The cafe in my office even does a Ruben salad - like a Ruben sandwich just no bread and on the mixed greens.
  • fresh raw garlic ,fresh root ginger thinly sliced and lemon juice
    Hummus
    Olives and pickles
    Grapes,apple
mature cheese and thinly sliced celery

there's so many I can't think of all of them at the moment
