Steam in bag veggies are wonderful but...

There is something in either the bag or on the veggies that I'm allergic to! My lips swell, tingle, and peel for 2-3 days after I eat them. Took me a while to figure out what the culprit was, but it is definitely that. I've taken the veggies out of the bag and cooked them on the stove and the reaction is milder, but still present.
When I started researching this, there are quite a few people with this problem out there. I don't have much else for allergies except one medication. Not even seasonal allergies, so this isn't a situation of someone with multiple allergies finding one more.
Thought I would post this in case someone else has had a similar problem and can't figure out what the issue is.

are the veggies prepared and sold in the bag to you
can you get a home steamer? use one of the chinese bamboo ones
here we have a silicon pot insert that is designed for use as a steamer cost $10au food tastes great and no side effects
am wondering if you are allergic to something they wash the veggies in to keep them fresh looking?
worth a thought - steam your own and check it out0 -

Yes they are prepared and sold in the bag. I have typically steamed my own veggies, but thought this was a great short cut for those nights when I'm short on time.0 -
I have heard that when we microwave in plastic that the plastic emits chemicals into our food. Perhaps you are allergic to something in the plastic? Just a thought, I personally have not had the issue and LOVE the steam in the bag veggies because they are so easy and keep longer than buying fresh produce that sometimes does not even get used.
Good luck:flowerforyou:0 -
i agree it could be the plastic. do you always buy a certain brand? what about switching brands? i don't have this issue but i'm sorry you do! the steam in the bag veggies are wonderful!0
