What you do when you're told You can the afford calories

Yesterday I went over my calories. After dinner I was around 300 over and can't even be sure because
I ate with friends and family something I didn't cook plus cake. I was a bit more harsh with myself for doing that,
but I was told by others I can afford it. Even that just one day of going over wouldn't make a difference.
It was early so I binged without caring when I got home. Just one day, yesterday. I'm 3 pounds heavier, queasy and
bloaded this morning. I'm skinny and I look like I have it all together but really I can fall like any other.
Yeah I was maintaining and now I'm going to loose those 3Lbs again. It wasn't necessarily people's fault
that I ended up doing this of course its my own choice. I just listened and turned off my own little voice in my
mind. If you're my friend and told me this I'm coming after you. What do you do when you're told you can afford the calories? I think I come across uptight and superficial when trying to answer that one.

My usual answer is "yeah but I can't afford the sodium" or "yah but I can't afford the sugar." I have a history of hypertension and diabetes so people don't push on either.0

It takes 3,500 calories to gain a pound, so unless you ate 10,500 calories above your maintenance it is just water weight/bloat and it will be gone before too long. Just avoid sodium and drink lots and lots of water! You can do it!! (:0

It's only temporary - not a real weight gain.
And....you should not deprive yourself all the time. Everything in moderation, right?0 -
Rather than argue about whether or not I can afford it, I tend to just say I don't want it (even if I do) or that I'm not hungry (which is usually true). It's easier to say "Oh! that cake looks delicious, but I couldn't eat another bite!" than to try to school others about why I shouldn't have the calories.
I actually have a harder time defending against having certain drinks if I'm out with friends. They will order these delicious looking martinis or margaritas and I get my usual Captain and diet coke. Fortunately, a lot of my real life friends are also on MFP, so they are also trying to avoid the high calorie concoctions. We just band together in solidarity and drink our lower calorie choices0 -

I'll try that. thanxs!0 -
the lbs you gain will go back down, you may only gain a pound sometimes none and or you may just stay at the same weight all week .0

Yep I usually have everything in moderation. That still didn't save me last night.0 -
We all have bad days occasionally. Drink lots of water and stay focused on your end result. You'll be fine.0

It's been said before, but I'll say it again: it's only temporary weight gain and will drop down in a day or so if you drink the water and cut back on sodium. The bloated feeling is a clue that it's this type of thing. You'll be ok.0

Avoid sodium, and try for at least 12cups of water, eat really light today, like salad for dinner, etc, and if ur under cal today don't worry about it0
