Ok so I have always been "bottom heavy" and I carry almost ALL my weight on my hips butt and thighs. Its anoying as heck and I just wanted some excercises I could do that would help me lose the fat. I am currently doing Zumba and I know that it works my whole body but I need some excercises specifically for my lower half
Any advice would be appreciated. :-)

I'm going to keep an eye on this post...I'm the same way! Bottom heavy. Always have been even when I have a tiny waist :(.

squats lunges and plie squats will tone the thigh and burn fat too. But cardio is one great way to burn it!

My thighs/bum are my worst bits....i've started running and am definitely seeing a big improvement - much more toned and shapely!

yeah my weight is in my hips and thighs also... they were bigger and was so complicated to wear jeans...
I think i owe running for the shrinking...im still not happy with thighs so now I focus on incline running and lower body workouts like squats, jumping lunges, dead lifts, and squat kicks

I wish there was a way to specifically target areas for weight loss v.v like what was already said though is you can tone thouse specific muscle groups but. The overall fat in those areas will come off with regular weight loss. People lose weight in different ways. That MIGHT be the last that comes off of you BUT it will come off you just have to stick with it! You guys will make it! ^_~

I posted a similar post back in Jan. There are a lot of exercises you can do to strengthen your thighs like squats, however you can't spot loose weight. Your body will choose to use fat stores in the order it wants to and you have no control over the order- I know, sucks right?! :grumble: Just keep up the cardio- zumba, swimming, running, elliptical. Sorry not better news...

I have lost more from my thighs and butt than anywhere else. I walk every day at least 30 minutes, but then I also do a few exercises to tone my legs and butt.:
    1. Side leg lifts; stand straight with knees soft and feet together. lift your legs to the side, and alternate right to left. I do about 20-30 on each side 3-4 days a week. burnd the gluteus medius (sp)
    2. Regular squats
    3. Chair squats (sounds lazy, but it works! Got it off a Jane Fonda workout DVD.) Sit in a chair with legs slightly apart feet straight under knees. Stand up using your thighs to push up. put your hands on your waist and DO NOT use them to help you get up. I do about 30 of these as well.

    Hope it helps!
And I agree with thetigerzeye we all lose weight differently. I have only lost 1 inch in my waist, but about 15 overall.

I will try the tips and excercises you guys gave:flowerforyou:

excercise bike or something similar, if you can't get to use on of those, lie on your back and do the cycling motion with your legs,
  • I suggest cycling is a very good way of trimming the legs and lower body. Keeping a cadence or RPM of around 80-100 over a period of an hour 2-3 times per week will help. It has worked for me.

I have the SAME problem! I hate it but one exercise that I do is lay flat on your back with your knees bent. Roll first to one side trying to touch your knees to the floor and then do same on the other side. Try to do 100 a day.

squats and lunges are the way to go.i have the opposite problem. I am top heavy,I have no hips or thighs or bum to speak of.But I'm lugging about a 32J bosom and slightly thick waist.I'm trying to get the fat off my top half.i desperately wish i had your concern with regard to hips.

    Good luck.

But isn't it easier to her weight off on top then it is on bottom?

To be honest I'm not sure. All I know is that you can't spot target fat deposits but fat around the middle is almost always the last to go universally.

I think breast fat deposits are genetic and unfortunately i'm stuck with mine. Thighs can be shaped and moulded with appropriate toning exercises, might take some time but it can be done.Lets make a deal,I give you some of my bosom and I get some of your hips :)
