Side Boob (Question for Women)

I have a way to go weight-loss-wise, but my side-boob is really, really bugging me and makes me feel incredibly self-conscious. While I'm definitely overweight, this area seems disproportionate to the rest of my body. I had a breast reduction (down to a DD from an H) about 4 years ago, but that area didn't have as much removed as I'd like. Finances permitting, once I'm down to my ideal weight, I may have the area lipo'd, but I'm wondering if any women who've lost 30 or more lbs. have noticed good shrinkage in the side-boob area?

I am not exactly sure what you mean by "side-boob". Are we talking about boobage that is over the side of the bra and between the strap and your armpit?

If so, you may well be able to correct that with a different style of bra or a better-fitting bra.

If you didn't have this issue shortly after your surgery, meaning it cam with the weight gain, it seems as though it would go away with weight loss.

I had breast reduction 10 years ago. Breasts are basically all fat. If you lose enough weight, you WILL lose it in the "side boob" area as well. Sometimes, it takes awhile... like abd and back fat!

I had that area liposuctioned at the time of reduction for body sculpting purposes...

My best friend had the same issue and they recommended she do the lipo then, because it was less risky, but in the time between, hers has come back. I find that a different fitting bra helps with the side boob issue (even it's just because it's contained versus being visible). It also does go away with weight loss (but there really aren't specific exercises to tone there (arm and shoulder exercises will help tone the surrounding muscles though which might make it look different visually).

Yes. And I've been fitted at one of those high-end bra boutiques, so I'm reasonably confident that it's not a matter of an ill-fitting bra.

It was an issue shortly after my surgery, and was promised that it would go down once the swelling was gone, but it never did. It does seem a bit worse, so perhaps it's a mix of problem with the surgery and a bit of weight gain. (I gained about a cup size with the weight gain, but that's all but gone now.)

Well, I have lost 30 pounds since January 1st and the "side boob" is one of the areas that I can tell the most because it's going down in size, to the point where they are almost non-existent now.

Keep doing cardio and toning and they WILL disappear.

    Good luck to you!
  • Sorry Sorry Sorry I'm not a woman but here is my 2 cents, You cannot target a area of your body to lose weight from basicly because your body itself will choose where it will take the fat reserves from and this can rly be difrent between people some will lose weight/size on there legs first others on there belly etc just keep doing cardio and eating healty and just keep forcing your body to keep using its fat reserves and it will get there.
Sorry again for not beeing a women but for what its worth I use to weigh 297.2 lbs and had a little side boob going on myself ^^

    Good luck !

I don't have a TON of side boob, but mine def. has a tendency to lean that way. A minimizing bra helps a bit because it pushes everything in toward the middle. Probably not a great long-term solution, but...

Yep!...I totally agree. However you put the fat on is exactly how it comes off, just in reverse. I have lost 43 pounds so far and my boobs have gone down a lot! (From a very large 36 C to a 34 B) Yet, I still have my fat in my butt and thighs. I tend to gain weight in my lower body first and add on going upwards.

Wait to see how your body reacts and make a decision then. Why waste your money and deal with the pain if your body has the potential to fix itself?

Good luck to you! I wish you the best!

If you're talking about fat pads to the sides of the boobs and extending around under the arms, then that was the first area where I lost a significant amount of fat. It was also the last area where I gained it. The spare tire area was the next to go, and for a while, all that deflated skin on my upper torso yielded to gravity and kind of pancaked against the waistband of my jeans like the rings of Saturn. To my great relief it has since tightened up. My cup size hasn't changed. I sag more than I did, but I'm still a D cup.

I can't wait to lose my side boob and back fat! I know it will go away as I lose weight, I used to be a B cup when I was really athletic and then a C cup before I put on major poundage. I would take either of those sizes back in a heartbeat! :)
