From not noticing to how are you doing it

For the longest time no one even noticed I had lost weight. I've been losing weight since October, 2010. Now it's How are you doing it. That's different. Of course I always say I'm counting calories on MFP and exercising.

Then I got one interesting question. What have you changed? My first thought is I now eat breakfast. Breakfast was the real difference, well that and water. Breakfast for me means I probably won't snack at night or get sleepy mid-day after that blood sugar rush. Other than that I just don't eat a whole pizza or gorge myself. I still think that relates to breakfast for some reason.

I never thought of water as the universal solvent for the body. Oh I knew it in nature but thought of it externally not internally. Now I can't wait to grab a glass or two in the morning. Makes a huge difference. Further I have found my headaches have been reduced by drinking more water. I rarely have a headache these days. I use to fly through the aspirin.

I always wanted folks to notice. You know that little reward. I honestly never expected the questions. Which I think is great as well.

AMEN!!!!! GO GIRL!!!! That's exactly what the rest of us are looking and hoping for, I've been getting that question alot lately myself too. I am not even close to your weightloss totals can you imagine how that will play out when I do get there?

I agree, I think having breakfast sets up your day to make healthy choices. I notice that if I don't have breakfast, I get really hungry at an inconvenient time (before lunch break) and I end up snacking on bad stuff from the vending machine.

Water is a challenge for me. I really love to drink it, but I can't stand the taste of the tap water or filtered water from my fridge. So if I run out of my gallons of bottled water, I usually just won't drink it. I don't like artificial flavors either, so the little crystal light packets don't work for me either. (Wow... I complain a lot LOL!)

I thought I would be happy when people noticed my shape changing but mostly I feel super-uncomfortable when they bring up my weight loss now.
No one outside of mfp is really interested in how I'm doing it and their eyes kinda glaze over when I say it's because of moderation and watching my calories. Also not interested in hearing about lots of exercise.
I wish people would genuinely ask me how to go about changing their lives to be healthier instead of just noticing that I'm smaller and acting like I'm fanatical for counting my calories.

    Hi Aesop101,

Same here, started in October 2010 too. Added breakfast, which I did not do before, and cut down on bread with lunch and after dinner snacks. Peanuts especially did me in; Using MFP I figured out that one serving is not a whole full bowl. I did figure the water thing out years ago, and yes I used to get headaches too, especially in summer, too much coffee not enough water.

People did notice for a while with me, but now I am getting more and more comments lately. But living in the Midwest US, where obesity is much more prevalent, I am getting lots of comments that I am getting too skinny, even though I still should lose some more belly fat, another 5-10 pounds, mainly from people who could benefit from losing some weight. I haven't quite figure out what to tell them, as I don't want to offend them. But since many people are overweight here, if you are not, you are kind of looked at as being strange, especially if you want to get and stay in really healthy range.

I was at a dinner party Saturday night and it was a ton of questions from folks who haven't seen me since a cook out in July. Yep our midwest folks seem to eat quite a bit. No one there was skinny or thin, including me. I thought it was great these folks took interest.
