This might seem like a strange question but I recently brought an exercycle and I'm wondering what part of my foot should be impacting the peddles as I cycle? Front, arch, etc.?

Ball of your foot. Set your seat to a height that gives you a little extension of your ankle without requiring you to shift your hips. This gives your calves a workout too.
If you get pains in your calves or shins you can use your arch more.0
