It will really depend on what you are weighing...I recently purchased a cheap kitchen scale and i really love it :)

A cup is a measurement of volume, not weight. There are 4.2 cups in a liter.

A cup is not a measurement of weight. Try this site...it might help.

grams are a measure of weight (mass) and cups are a measure of volume, so they are not compatible directly, meaning, it would depend on what you are measuring.

    2 cups = 1 pint
    2 pints = 1 quart
    4 quarts = 1 gallon

    1/4 cup = 4 tablespoons
    1/3 tablespoon = 1 teaspoon

    1 US quart = 0.946352946 liters

so 1 cup is approximately 0.25 liters

It will depend on what you are measuring. If you google the specifics, you will find the answer. Good luck

I bought a set of measuring cups from tesco in december, were only a few quid. and saves me having to get the scales out for things.

A cup of carrots will weigh a lot more than a cup of rice, so it's difficult to say what a cup actually "weighs". Your best bet is to get a kitchen scale. Most labels will have both a volume (cups or teaspoons) and a weight (grams) measurement for a serving, so use the grams measurement and your scale.

I, personally, have a tendency to use the kitchen scale all of the time. I don't like to measure things in cups and tablespoons because I'm lazy and hate washing those utensils. Instead, I'll put my food on the scale, tare it (zero it out) and then add the food I'm measuring. I did it this morning with peanut butter and sandwich thins. One tablespoon of peanut butter weighs 16 grams.

Popcorn is usually measured in cups, and is measured after the kernels are popped.
