in my yard. Good idea? Not? Who has been running barefoot? Thinking about doing this on the beach in a couple of weeks too.

Have you seen those shoes that look like toe socks? I've seen people wearing them at the gym and around town, apparently they are pretty good for your feet.

Sounds like fun, but be wary of shin splints. Running in bare feet will hurt your shins if you're not doing it on a soft surface. Sand should be fine but your yard may be harder than you think. If your shins start to hurt, put on running shoes.

    Vibram 5 fingers.

Pretty much barefoot and I love them.

If you are going to do the barefoot running thing, I would try to get a pair of those. Helps you get used to it. Once you are used to it, they seem to wield good results but I can not speak for everyone. Some people tried it and hated them. For me, I improved my speed and distance a lot but everybody is different.

    Good idea.

Short sprints at max effort up a steep hill for about 10 seconds done twice a week will increase your injury resistance and build the strength that leads to a stronger stride and faster speed.

Since they are short your body recovers rather quickly so they can be done at the end of an easy run two or three days apart. Start out with about four and increase weekly until you are doing ten or twelve.
