So I've gone and done it.... I've signed myself up for my second half marathon. Last time I ran one I was with a friend and we completed it in 2hrs and 30min. Now that I have one under the belt I am curious if I can do better. I know I can run faster, but I don't know if my standard 10k(6mile) pace can be kept up for a full 21k(13.1mile). Luckily time is kinda on my side. I have exaclty 2 months to train starting today. Here is my planned training for the next 2 months.
Week Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday
1 Rest 4 mi CT 3 mi race pace Rest 7 mi 3.5 mi EZ
2 Rest 4 mil CT 4 mi race pace Rest 9 mi 3.5 mi EZ
3 Rest 4 mi CT 4 mi race pace Rest 10 mi 3.5 mi EZ
4 Rest 4.5 mi CT 3 mi race pace Rest 8 mi 4 mi EZ
5 Rest 5 mi CT 4 mi race pace Rest 10 mi 3 mi EZ
6 Rest 4.5 mi CT 3 mi race pace Rest 12 mi 3 mi EZ
7 Rest 4 mi CT 3 mi race pace Rest 5 mi 2.5 mi EZ
8 Rest 3 mi race pace 30 minutes Rest 20 minutes Rest Rest
9 Race Day
My current 7km(4mile) pace is 8:17-8:36min/mile. Hoping that I can keep around that for my longer distances with maybe a max of 9min/mile. Both might be overzealous, but I figure aiming high isn't a bad thing.
Wish me luck!

Try throwing some tempo runs and intervals into your shorter runs -- I was stuck in a 10-minute mile rut and adding those workouts really helped me improve my speed and endurance in a short amount of time.
Also, hill train. So crucial!! I picked one day per week with a shorter run (3-4) miles, and made that day either a tempo run, interval run, or hill repeat run day.
Good luck, sounds like you are already very fast!!! Have fun!!0 -

So far only over short distances. As for long distances, I am reminded of a certain LOTR quote about cross-country. Thanks for the advice and encouragement!0
