Has anyone ever done a "BIKINI" competition? If so, how long did you train, diet, etc? I'm considering doing one next year and would like to know what to expect.

I am 42 now and I am also obese and diabetic now because of all the intense work I did as a teen model for swim suit and other types of modeling competitions in the 80s. I had been in catalogs and magazine at the time for boston store, barbrazon stores and ormond store and others, I did live window store modeling in NY as well as catalog runway shows. When I see people putting their children in these sorts of things now I cringe. Children want to please and have your praise but this is not fun for them.
But to train for these while a teen my schedule was like this:
monday through friday
5am up and run for 5 miles
6am shower, dress, eat go to school
7-215 school
had 3 gym classes a day put into my schedule with no study halls to use weight room between classes with a trainer
230-830pm jazz/ballet dance class (small dinner break)
9-1130 practice karate and yoga and do homework
1130 bed
saturday and sunday
karate 2 hrs , ballet 2 hrs, church 2 hrs and modeling/runway practice sessions 4 to 6 hrs
ate a vegetarian diet, drank water or tea, consumed tons of countless calories probably way over 2000 if not 3000 a day as I was burning them off 24/7 to the point I dropped to a scary 80 lbs due to all the workouts and had to be taken off them till I gained 15 lbs back.
I am 5 ft 2 in tall, my weight at competition time was weight was 95 lbs and a size 3
moral of my story, never got to go to dances or have dates and had NO life- I hated my teen years! lol
Go for it if you want now that you are an older adult and can control your life but its all consuming, hope you have an understanding and supportive family. Good Luck!0
