How healthy do you eat

I was curious how healthy everyone eats. Being healthy is more than just counting calories and getting to the target weight that you want.

Personally, I ate 90% organic foods. I try and eat healthy, and make everything from scratch but that is not always the case. This is a huge change from a little over a year ago where I would eat frozen dinners or fast food for all my meals.

I zigzag my healthy eating. Sometimes, it's processed crap, sometimes it's whole wheat pasta with my spaghetti sauce and sometimes it's salad with organic mango for dessert. I'm at about 60% bad, 40% good right now, working toward hopefully 80%good 20% not organic by the time I'm done.
  • I try to eat as healthy as I can- as many unprocessed foods, raw foods, and better choices. I am still learning! That's whats really awesome about this journey- over the past few months I have learned not only how to feed my body better, but how much better I feel when I do!

Always looking for suggestions for super-healthy meals and snacks!!!

I think I'm pretty healthy. My main source of food is frozen veggies and fresh organic fruit. :)

I follow my own 80/10/5/5 rule

80% all natural and healthy, unprocessed (lean meats, veggiess, fruits)
10% healthy processed (like greek yogurt, cottage cheese)
5% "diet foods" that I enjoy (sugar free puddings, lentil chips, skinny cow ice creams)
5% whatever I am in the mood for (usually one day on the weekend, like beer and wings)

Its worked well for me, I haven't gained more than 5 pounds in 6 years, and those 5 pounds are all muscle.

I definitely eat for health reasons more than "diet" though I am pretty much always conscious of what i eat.

I think we're doing probably 80% organic, processed foods that are completely natural and/or organic (like Trader Joe's stuff, for ex), just about everything homemade, which is a big departure from last yr, where most stuff came pre-prepared, ready to eat. It takes more time, but the taste is soooooo much better, outside of just the health benefits from not eating stuff with a long list of chemical additives.

From Sunday to Friday, I eat everything healthy. Fresh fish, organic chicken, farm fresh eggs. I also consume no dairy, wheat, or fruit high in fructose. I eat raw spinach, broccoli, asparagus, guacamole, and pretty much stick to that.

When Saturday rolls around, all bets are off. I eat anything and everything, within reason. If I want some biscuits and gravy, I will eat them!

Im an 80/20 eater. I don't usually buy organic, but I will if I see something on sale. I try to get my vegs and fruits in daily (which is better than I did before when I didnt at all), and Im slowly but surely weaning myself off of processed and fast foods. Its hard but I know it will help me with my goal in the long run.

All of my dairy, meats, and fruits/veggies are organic. I stay away from junk food and fast food. I drink mostly water and I stay away from soda.

i nearly always cook from scratch. I had my first microwave meal in months today, but i had just come back from a hospital operation so had zero desire to cook so i managed to justify it. Plus it was a quorn mince one which are healthy compared to a lot of stodgy creamy pasta ones.

I dont know how much organic stuff i really eat.
I buy all my veg from the loose sections in supermarkets, im guessing that isnt organic?
Although i am currently eating some organic blueberries and they are very yummy :)

I eat as healthily as I can, but don't beat myself up over it. And if there is a significant price difference, I just can't justify organic right now.

Most people I know think I cook from scratch, but I do use tomato sauce and paste, canned beans and precooked polenta - the last one is just because you have to go to the expensive stores around here to get polenta meal. Also canned olives and artichokes. I have never successfully made an artichoke and I have never seen raw olives for sale. And, oddly, we purchase Morning Star Maple Flavor Breakfast Sausage in bulk.

My partner was on the phone to his mother yesterday and suddenly said "We will definitely be ready to eat out with you when we visit, we haven't eaten out since we went to Puerto Rico." We went to Puerto Rico at the beginning of March!

Sounds like Tim Ferris 4h body.

A lot of people think that because you get something that is organic, that it is healthy but that is totally not the case. It is so hard to actually eat healthy these days because we are told so many different stories on what is and what is not healthy.

I eat for health reasons too. I was sick every day, migraines every day for 2 years, no energy, etc. I spent thousands upon thousands of dollars trying to figure out what was wrong with me and nobody could figure it out. I changed my diet, did a bio-meridian, and that helped tremendously. Now I run 3-4 times a week and I have a lot more energy. All of this got rid of my insomnia too. It is amazing how your body actually works when you do what you are supposed to do.

That's the key! I think most people don't realize or think about the stuff you put into your body - so many chemicals, preservatives, things that our bodies can't use, can't process, can't figure out what to do with....and then we wonder why we get fat, get sick, etc?

I still eat quite a bit of junk. I enjoy it too much to give it up completely, but I do try to avoid sweets and sodas. I exercise a whole lot to make up for some of the bad stuff that I eat. I'm committed to being both happy and healthy and at present, the way I do things works fine for me. I've also lost about 30 pounds over the last 10 months.

I'm probably at 80/20 also, but don't stress too much about organic.

Whenever someone tries to push something on me "but it is all *natural*!" I point out that arsenic is all natural, as well.
