Hi Everyone! I joined MFP one week ago when I was searching for a free food diary app for my blackberry. I feel like I was handed a gift when I downloaded MFP! I have already lost 3 pounds (which is more than I've lost in the past 7 years) and I've never committed to healthy eating until seven days ago. So far, it's working... and I am ecstatic! I still have a LONG way to go and am hoping for some guidance from people who have successfully lost more than 20 or 40 pounds.

I see many people post their starting weight, current weight, goal weight. Along with mini goals, dates and rewards. I am curious to know what people have found most successful for them with their "in-between goals"? I know where I want to end up, just not sure what to look for on the path to getting there.

Any feedback is appreciated!

Amy

If you are going to reward for weight loss be sensible (e.g. 5 lbs a month loss is really a good rate). Set your mini goals at achievable increments with appropriate rewards (e.g. manicure, shopping trip etc.). Good luck!

I picked basic milestones... Starting weight was 181 ... so first goal was below 170, second is below 160 and final is 150
I have been lower than 150before and I tend to look too skinny so will be happy there. Secondary goal set is time frames. My goal for the first milestone was by the end of April ( met) ... Second is before I go on summer vacation with my family in Florida in Mid-June (working on it) and final goal is to be at my target weight AND ready for a 5K by the time autumn comes around. Holding off on the 5K training right now due to an injury, but looking forward to getting back out on the road soon. I will sign up for the 5K a few months in advance as an incentive.
