Carb Cutting Suggestions?

Without completely cutting out carbs and sugar, any suggestions to cut back a bit? I don't drink soda, but generally try to have one starch with dinner (potatoes, rice, etc.). Would quinoa or brown rice be better options? Somehow I seem to exceed daily recommended sugar amount, even though not eating too much processed sugar. Thanks!

I'm watching my carbs a bit closer and find if I eat a heavier breakfat and eat most of my carbs during the day that by dinner I satisfied with eating protein and veggies vs starchy carbs. As for the better options I would agree brown rice or a sweet potatoe might be good alternatives. Best of luck to u.0

i think potatoes are okay - I wouldn't have all the time. or have half.
brown rice, quinoa, yams, etc. i'd stay away from pasta if possible.0 -
Try and move your starch to lunch. Make sure you are having brown rice, whole wheat breads & pastas and for potato try a sweet potato.0

I eat gluten free 99% due to child with food allergies. Based on other foods not in our diets, I generally don't feel full without some kind of carb/starch in my diet. I recently tried homemade kale chips, and find those slightly filling (could it be the protein or calcium in it?). Trying to find some creative alternatives or modifications. Thanks.0

Protein is known to help you stay filling full. Also, healthy snacking in between meals helps keep your metabolism burning as well as eliminating cravings and feeling hungry. (Almonds, fruit, non fat yogurt, humour, veggies)0

Stir fry California mix vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots) (about 2 cups) in coconut oil and season them well...mix in 1 oz (or however much you want) of cream cheese when vegetables are just about done and stir til mixed in. Set aside. Then scramble some eggs (I have 4) and add some cheese. Eat together in a nice big bowl! lol
The BEST (IMO) low carb meal that keeps you full for hours and hours and hours! I eat this for breakfast often. You wont miss any of the starches.0 -
I also need some kind of starch in my diet to feel full, and paradoxically, I lose my appetite almost completely if my carb level drops too low. I've learned that regulating my carb intake is the key to hitting my calorie budget every day without going over or feeling deprived.
One change I've made is that I never serve anything over a bed of rice or pasta anymore, whole grain or not. Instead I either mix a half standard portion (or less) into the food before it hits the plate or serve the dish upside down - with the starch on top rather than below.0
