did your loose and stretched out lower belly skin ever firm up? I'm finally stating to see some deffinition, but I am still discouraged by my stretch marked- loose skin from my pregnancies.

Is a tummy tuck the only cure?

hey friend - YES, mine did/does after each pregnancy. Sometimes it honestly takes about 18 months. I remember when my now 3.5 yr old was about 18 months old and I felt like my stomach was finally back to normal ( I have a pretty flat tummy). I guess every person's body is different and it probably depends on what you looked like before but mine totally goes away and goes completely flat again. I don't have that "mom pouch" that everyone talks about though, I work HARD on my abs.....I hold it more in my butt/things area. Hope this helps!

My friend who is a plastic surgeon says a tummy tuck is the only cure, but I'm not convinced yet. I'm going to re-evaluate when I get my body fat% lower. My lower tummy bulge is going to be the last thing to go.

From what I understand you have to eat a very rigid and super healthy diet to get a flat stomach. From the few bikini competitor friends I have on this site I understand that you have to eat very little sugar (even natural sugars in fruits) and stick to a very clean and unprocessed diet.

For many, it's not worth the effort. For me - I'm trying to achieve that flat stomach by diet and exercise, but I may just have too many "oopsies" in my diet to get there (like the last two days of my food diary!)

Anyway, regardless of what your stomach does or does not do, eating clean will of course benefit your long term health and your heart and vasculature and other internal organs will thank you!

I guess I'm referring to the excess skin... I have some loose stretch-marked skin, that is loose over my abs.

My youngest (and last) is now 2 yo.

and my stretch marks also eventually go away too.....not completely but enough that they're not noticeable to anyone but me, that ALSO takes over a year for me....everyone is different though, i have friends whose stretch marks never ever go away....It's tough seeing our bodies change like this, believe me, I know! but oh so worth it! =)

I agree with the surgeon unfortunately. My doctor also told me the same thing. I guess it depends on your body. I've been working out for about 2 years, lost 22 pounds, went from a size 6/8 to a size 0/2, and although I can finally see my abs there is just so much loose skin hanging from both my pregnancies. Any time I do plank pose it just hangs there. There is a skin firming treatment you can try that involves a laser instead of actual surgery. It is costly however you will see results. I just can't afford it :(
