I've been practicing moksha (hot) yoga 2x a week for the past month, and I've decided to try going every day for at least 8 days in a row. It would be great to have some support for this goal, so if anyone is interested in doing the same, please introduce yourself and check in often! (It doesn't have to be hot yoga that you practice, of course.)
I started on Sunday, May 8th, but you can start at any time and maybe we can keep this thread alive for a while!
I also took (eeek!!!) bikini pictures today, and if I see even the slightest difference after this week I'll post them for comparison. I'll also post any other benefits that come from doing this. (I'll continue to count calories all week.)
Thanks for listening!

I felt a few seconds of laziness creep in when I got home from work, but I went and was glad I did.
Benefits I've noticed so far:
1. I haven't watched a moment of TV all week! Usually I watch an episode of something when I get home from work to help me unwind, but so far that hasn't been necessary! (still hooked on the computer, though...)
2. Decreased appetite! (although that's now making it a struggle to consume enough calories...)
3. I've been going to bed earlier and sleeping better! (I usually toss and turn for hours...)
4. Feeling more energetic and focused at work!
The scale is still in the same place it has been FOREVER, so no weight changes yet. Perhaps there will be a measurement or bikini shot differences soon??? (wishful thinking?)
Anyways, still hoping someone will join me here. Or at least cheer me on, please! :blushing:0 -
Just saw this...took today off (not feeling well)...so here is mine so far:
Hot Vinyasa Flow: Monday 60 minutes
Hot Vinyasa Flow:Tuesday 60 minutes0 -
I would love to be of support. I have been and will always continue to practice yoga everyday. Depending on the day, I either go to Vinyasa or Hatha...0

YAY!
Welcome Irish and Satya!
Since you both do Vinyasa, could you explain it to me a bit? I'm still pretty new to yoga...0 -
EVERY yogi/yogini is different and every class is vastly different, from my experience. Usually the class begins with the opening stretching, breathing and opening techniques which are usually standing (the sun salutations). Then it is followed by a series of back bends or back bending stretching exercises, then a section of inversions and then the closing stretches and exercises. The class is usually broken into four parts and always ends in savasana just like every other yoga class (or every other yoga class that I have taken). The focus is primarily on the breath and creating strength and balance from within. Speaking of breathing, it is important to master ujayi (spelling?) technique which is where you fill your lower abdomen and slowly let that breath rise and open up your chakras. It is a very loud breath in through the nose, down the back of the throat... and takes some time to master.0

Thanks, Satya. Sounds exactly like what I do in my Moksha yoga class.
So, you do yoga every day? Do you do it mostly from home or at a studio? I definitely have a long way to go before I can trust myself to do it properly at home, and I enjoy having others around me.
Well, today was day 5 and while the practice was great, for the first time I felt fairly wiped out afterwards, in a good way though!
It was a challenging class and I really tried to push myself just a little more than usual - very rewarding as I finally got my feet flat on the floor during downward dog, and was able to get my left foot up on my thigh for tree stand! (usually I can only get the right foot up)

Wow, good for you! Sounds like you have made incredible progress. Great job! I do my yoga in a studio. I don't dare trust myself at home either
I do however, do some yoga stretching at home to open up when I am tight. What has been the most challenging part of yoga for you? What is your favorite part? Or pose?

My favourite pose is pigeon, definitely! There's something so calming about it, yet rejuvenating at the same time. I also really enjoy the prayer twist followed by hooking the big toes and stretching the back out (is there a name for this?).
For me, the most challenging poses are the warriors, because I find them to be quite hard on the knees at times! Today wasn't so bad for knee pain, but in general that's where I feel the burn. Ouch!
How about you?0 -
Sounds like you might be referring to eagle pose, or garudasana? If so, that is also one of the poses that I enjoy as well. My favorite is sucirandhrasana (and yes, I cheated and looked up the spelling on that one, hehehehe)... that is the threading the needle pose. I know, use and prefer Sanskrit, but cannot spell the words to save my life. The most difficult or challenging pose for me is flip dog pose because I injured my shoulder last year and it puts pressure on that one shoulder joint. It really depends though. Each day is different. Some days I enjoy different things and other days I just can't seem to power through them. So I know you enjoy yoga, but does your practice follow into your daily life? Do you enjoy kirtan?0

SIX DAYS IN A ROW! I'm proud of myself!
Satya: I must admit, I started doing yoga mainly for the health benefits it gave me, and learning how to strengthen my mind with it is something I haven't quite gotten down yet. I'm also not very spiritual, so...
I take it you are? Could you explain, exactly?0 -

DAY 7!!! WOW!
Today's class was pretty strenuous, and at one point I felt a little weak, but I pushed through and made it to the end of the class.
I wonder if those 3 glasses of wine from last night made it more difficult this morning??? :drinker:0 -
