"H20" Exploding the Pounds - 10 Week Challenge - Week 3

Well, I am finally showing up! My computer has NOT liked MFP this week for some reason. :grumble: I wasn't able to do a lot of things, but today it seems to be back to normal.
Fabulous challenges once again April!!!!!!!!! Those pictures are gorgeous!!!!!
This week I started back up with C25K. I had planned on starting on Week 4, but when I went to run I realized that my i-pod battery was dead. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do. So I did my own thing! It turned out to be almost exactly what I should have done for W5D1 and it wasn't even hard!!!!!! Yesterday I ran 8 minutes two times NO PROBLEM!!!!! WOOOHOOO!!!!! When I stopped C25K in the fall, running 3 minutes was still a challenge. Thank you to 30DS and P90X for helping me to get fit! Tomorrow will be my Week 5, 20 minute run! :noway: I can do this!!!!!!!
I have been struggling with my eating a bit for the past week, but I am back on track. The low carbing works great for me to lose weight, but then I can't really workout, so ultimately it doesn't do me much good. Now I am starting to calorie zig-zag to lose the last few pounds.
It sounds like quite a few of us are struggling a bit right now, but WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!! Keep up the good work girls!!!
Jennifer - Sorry about the half marathon, I am sure that is a disappointment. Good job with keeping up with what you can do. There is always another time, but you have to take care of yourself now!
Pink - How did the jeans turn out? You will get rid of the extra couple pounds quickly! I'm no help on the haircut conundrum, sorry!
vsetter - Welcome! This is a fabulous group!
Crystal - I am SO PROUD of you for keeping going even though you aren't seeing fast loss! You are DEFINITELY losing more inches than pounds! You look fabulous!!!!!! :bigsmile:0 -
Hello ladies!
Just a quick check in on my day off... I love Thursdays!!! I did 5 miles this morning, felt good, but boy the heat and humidity are back! I love it, but it's different for running so I'll need to get used to it. I did wear a tank instead of long sleeves... that's what I wore just on Saturday! You can barely blink in Michigan before the weather changes... makes it challenging, but fun! So I'm going shoe shopping today, which I'm happy about, but nothing will feel as good as my running shoes! Those things were made for me.. I totally love them!
Pink- go where you are comfortable for that haircut... I've been going to the same girl for 12 years and I don't think I'll ever change. If you're going for a new look, maybe try the more expensive place, if it's just a trim, go for the cheap one! Just my opinion...
Jenn... So sorry about the 1/2... that really stinks! It's hard to have to step back from training, but know that if you do and actually let your injury heal properly that race will be waiting for you in the future!!!!
Oh, and since I weigh in on Thursdays I'm happy to report another pound lost! I didn't lose last week, so a pound in two weeks is where I'm at! I'm actually pretty happy with that. These last 10 or so will be slow, but I'm in a good place and I'll keep plugging along!
Have a great day!0 -
Just a quick drop in to see how everyone's doing. Looks like some serious progress is being made.
Pink, I'm no help with the haircut. My dad always says the difference between a good haircut and a bad one is three days. I'm not sure if that applies to ladies hair, or not. Good luck with it.
Mandy, thanks for the compliment. :flowerforyou:
My three happy's
*It's a beautiful day
*Kids are healthy
*I'm not giving up, no matter what!!!!!!!!!!!
This is my SECOND full week of TOM, Ladies! Where's the "little man slamming his head on the brick wall" icon? Ugh, I am SO tired of it and I'm just so TIRED - I'm shaky and dizzy every time I stand up. Enough already! :grumble:
But I'm one day closer to being done than I was yesterday!! My dr says it will even out eventually. :ohwell: Oh, thanks!!!! That helps me SO much to know that!! (sarcastic  )
Anyway, I hope you all have a marvelous day. Keep up the good work! We're getting there - even if it is slow some days!!!
:drinker: Cheers all around!!!!0 -
Walked some nature trails again today.. It equaled 2 miles today.. yay.. took my camera, but didnt take as many pictures..0
-
linemansgirl - Look at you run! That's awesome. Thanks for your positive attitude. The jeans...meh, I might have to return one of them. One pair I can use as my goal pants, since I can get them on now with a struggle. The second pair, although the same size, I can't even get up past my butt. So now I'm trying to decide if it is worth returning them (customer pays shipping costs), or just eat the $15 they cost and find something to do with them.
Nikstergirl - Glad the summer weather has found its way to you. Yay for another pound biting the dust! I like your thinking on the haircut...I almost want to go to the cheap place to get the ends and my bangs trimmed. Then when I'm ready for the splurge, go to the other salon. If I had the money I'd go to my all time favorite salon, but that costs $120.
CrystalS - 3 days... Yeah I think that only counts for man hair. Stupid TOM taking to long with your body! Aunt Flo need to stop visiting you for that long. It just isn't nice.
April - Yay for another trail walk!0 -
Boy do i have a busy day ahead of me tomorrow.. Good night ladies. I have to meet up with my niece to meet my great nephew, photo shoot, meet up with my sister, possibly a friend from work.. and then im going to do another walking trail.. i love it.. It makes me feel better once im done walking the trails..0
-
April, I meant to tell you when I posted before that your picture are so pretty. That must be a beautiful trail. Have fun tomorrow.
I got a little walk in tonight and it felt SOO good! I will have to walk again tomorrow.
Tomorrow's FRIDAY, Ladies!!! I hope you all have a great one!!! :happy:0 -
off to start my busy day.. and if the weather is nice when i get home.. im going for a nature walk again.,.0

This allergy season has been completely kicking my rear-end this year!!!! Normaly it doesn't bother me too much but this year I just can't breathe! It doesn't effect my sinuses as much as it effects my asthma. I ran on MOnday (my first 5k at 40:48) and I haven't been able to do anything since! Last night I was all dressed and ready to go out for a jog. I went into my purse to get my inhaler and realized I left it at work. This immediately put me in a mini "panic attack" as I knew I would be without it all night. I found an old prescription and was able to get another one but by the time I got it, it was almost 10pm. My first 5k is 30 days away and this has me very nervous about my ability to finish this.
I'm hoping now that I have a new inhaler that I'll be able to track so good miles this weekend. It stinks because the weather here is supposed to be really crummy for the next 5-6 days so it looks like I'll be back on the treadmill.
Sorry for the downer post. Just feeling a little detached.0 -
I can't believe that I just jogged 20 minutes straight! Over 1.5 miles!!!! It was HARD, but I DID IT!!!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!
((((((((((JustJenn419))))))))) I hope that you get to feeling MUCH better soon! My hubby really struggles with spring allergies too. NO fun!!!!! :ohwell:
Have a fabulous nature trail walk April!!!!!!!! That sounds WONDERFUL!!!!!
Pink - Sorry about the jeans! How frustrating! :grumble:
Crystal- I hope that TOM is gone SOON!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm glad that you were able to get a walk in!0 -
Crystal - I'm in the same boat as you, as I've been working on a healthier lifestyle for 6 months and I've lost 18 pounds. Sometimes it was 2 pounds a week, sometimes nothing. But I remind myself that losing 18 pounds is awesome and I'm only 10-15 pounds from my goal. So that helps on the weeks when I'm barely losing! Just remind yourself that if you keep at it, you WILL lose more, and the working out will make you more fit, which is great! And I hope you TOM is gone soon...2 times is one too many!
Cazz - congrats on losing 60 pounds!!! That's such a huge milestone
AprilVal - the trail looks lovely...such a relaxing place to take a walk.
vsetter - welcome! How goes the war on water?
Jennifer - sorry to hear that you can't run in the half marathon, but it's great that you're finding other exercise in the form of swimming.
Pink - what happened with the haircut? I would have gone with the known (and more expensive) option so I didn't end up with a train wreck. It's the same reason I've never coloured my hair at home. What did you go with? And if the jeans were only $15, and it probably would cost $5-10 dollars to return, maybe find something else to do with them? Are you crafty? I'm SO not - I sewed through my finger once in grade 8 home ec...
linemansgirl - I thought of you at the gym today! I was on the treadmill and decided to run for a few minutes (thinking about your story). And I could! I only did 3 minutes, but it was great
JustJenn - I have horrible allergies too and I sympathize. I can hardly go outside sometimes, and when the grasses are really bad, I will occasionally shower 3 or 4 times a day to get the pollen off. Good luck with your workouts in the next few days!0 -
It was so perfect outside today that when I got home I thought I'd go up to the town I grew up in (20 minutes away) and walk the boardwalk and pier. It's a 4ish mile walk and I love doing that when it's nice out, so I set out to walk and about 1/2 mile into it I literally ran into a wall of cold!!! It sucked! I ended up pushing through and walking about a mile before I turned around... not exactly what I hoped, but it was something. I'll run in the morning, hopefully the storm will have passed by then. It's raining pretty good now.
Ok, the best thing about today, besides the fact that my husband should be home soon, is that I got the coolest thing! I have a friend who's husband owns a wholesale greenhouse and they sell these things called salad bowls. I literally kill everything I ever grow, but I thought I'd try this. Basically it's a little garden in a planter! Arugula, Romaine, Basil, Chives, Spinach, and even Strawberries.. all in one big bowl!!! Keep it watered and sunny and it's supposed to give you produce every day all summer! Let's see if I can keep it going and eat yummy stuff all summer!0 -
Since I've been such a whine lately, :blushing: here's a few things that are blooming in my flower garden to make up for it! :flowerforyou:
Time to pull myself up by my boot straps and get back to work. Thanks for being here for my whiny self, Ladies!!
:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
Nikstergirl, your bowl sounds lovely!0 -
Bump0
-
Crystal, what are those gorgeous flowers with the different shades of pink (dark pink in the centre and lighter on the edges)? I LOVE them! I want some for my garden here!!0
-
Crystal - gorgeous flowers! - gives me half an idea to go take pictures of my poppies and roses and clematis ( actually been wanting to take pictures of the poppies lately as in flanders we are known for our fields of them but unfortunately known of that type grow in my garden) - anyway great great pictures
Alegria- thanks for the well wishes - love your photo by the way1
Nikster- ooh the salad bowl sounds like fun- let us know how it does- don't be too upset if you don't get any strawberries the first year- sometimes they need a second year to get established- have fun!
my three happies for the day-
today the weather cooled down a bit- making it less tiring to garden ( the sun and I are friends, but I can only have short visits with it)
I saw that a family of nuthatches moved into our bird house- :-)
and next-
got in my swim Yippee!- I did a km (0.6miles) which I suppose isn't far but I think it is the farthest/ most I have ever done except when snorkeling- I love snorkeling because I have never been good about getting the rhythm of breathing and arm movements right and feel like half the time get water in my mouth- also today wore nose plug and ear plugs and did not have a runny nose afterwards so those seem to help
Is it ok if I put my swimming miles on the ticker- they will not add up to much but It might help me keep on track until I can walk ...0 -
I ran 3.3 miles today and although my time wasn't great, I'm excited because the route I took involved a lot of hills and inclines so that is something new that I tried and succeeded. My body was fighting me the entire way but I still did it. Everyone on here is so motivational. And although I have yet to meet any of you, you are all in the back of my mind pushing me as I go. THANK YOU as usual :-)0
-
16 miles on the bike today...my legs are not happy with me. Glad I did it though. Rainy and cold, now I am literally chillin'. Now to just rest!0
-
JustJenn... GREAT job on the run!!! I totally feel like sometimes I can hear you all cheering for me too, so I get what you're saying! Just keep running... Jogging and logging.. that's my motto!!!!
Today was nice. Hubby got home late last night, so when we got up and moving we decided to go see his folks and Grandma. She's such a neat lady.. she's 96 and sharp as a tack! Anyway, after a nice brunch and then a nice visit, we came home so I could run (it had stopped raining) and then took our kids +2 friends to see Fast Five. I love those movies... and then went out for pizza!!! Good thing I had ran my six miles, plenty of calories to enjoy a couple slices and a salad!!! No beer as I was driving and I don't usually drink around the kids anyway! So now I'm chilling and loving my Saturday! Now if summer would find it's way back (it was really chilly and damp today) I would be totally geeked!!!!
Hope you all have had a nice Saturday.. here's to one more day "off" before another work week begins!!!!0 -
I'm glad you all liked the flowers. I LOVE anything that grows outside.
JeninBelgium, I'd love to see your flowers. That is GREAT about your swim.
JustJenn, that's SUPER - 3.3 miles - YAY for you!!!!! :flowerforyou:
Nursee, WOW - I'd be in the next town if I rode that far. Good for you!!!!
Nikstergirl, that is so nice that you can go see your Grandma. I don't have either one of mine anymore and I miss them. I hope you have a wonderful day with your hubby being home. Good job on the six miles.
How are the rest of you doing? Still logging? No cheating allowed - just remember that!!!
Here are my three happy's
*It rained all day, but I still got out and planted for about an hour and was soaking wet, but I felt SO good.
*I have a warm house to sleep in
*I'm feeling better and TOM has left the building - THANK the good Lord!!!!!!!!!! :flowerforyou:
We're getting there, Girls!!!!!! :bigsmile:0 -
Hello! Been super busy between work and family again. Been keeping up with my running and I'm super proud of that. Running every other day no matter what. Sadly went over on calories a couple of days and didn't make the best food choices (who can resists caramel stuffed cookies, lumpia and pancit?!). Had a tiny gain this week of .2 (hopefully that's all but I haven't weighed myself since Thursday).
SW:203.8
W1:207.2
W2:198.8

Another rainy, cold, craptastic weather day here in Michigan... sigh. I need summer!!!! But it was a good day despite the weather. Had to sing in the band for church (my true love) and then had lunch with the kiddos as hubby left again. Then I spent a much needed 90 minutes sweating at the gym!!! I hadn't lifted in two weeks because I was so focused on my running that I really needed a good session! It was awesome. I felt muscles again that I hadn't felt in a while and then did a solid 30 minutes on the elliptical (really it's an ARC trainer which burns more cals, but whatever) then just because I wanted to round out the number I did 15 minutes on the stationary bike!!!! A nice meeting at church and now I'm home and showered and ready for supper! Wow, I had a productive day! Oh, and I'm doing laundry, but that's nothing new is it???
So even though I didn't run today I actually feel great. It's amazing how a good workout can make you feel when you're done! The best part about today's workout was when I got on the ARC trainer I found out Top Gun was just starting!!! Love me some young hotties in uniforms!!!! Kept me interested for the 45 minutes I was glued to the tv!!!! Totally worth every minute! I think if I hadn't had a meeting to get to I would have just kept on going!!! LOL!!!!0 -
Oh, and I almost forgot... my awesome new iPhone armband holder thingie came!!!! I can't wait to try it out!!!!
Thanks for the info, Pink... it's totally awesome!!!!0 -
My new hair doo.. After getting SEVEN inches cut off on Thursday. I feel much better.. Did something differenet with my hair yesterday.. Curlled the front part with my straightener and left the rest a curly mess.. I dont know if i like it or not.. thats what this picture is from.. i need to get a curling iron again..0 -
Cute, April!!! I like the curls, but it's fun to play with a new cut!!!! It's adorable...0

Happy Monday my friends! After a weekend of the worst blah weather, we have some sun today. I did get out on the bike Saturday (16 miles baby) but way too cold to do anything yesterday. I will get out today. Doing some house straightening, laundry, work meeting, maybe a little yardwork...just need to keep moving.
Had some good eats over the weekend...made enchiladas and chicken parmesan homemade...different recipes, super yummy.
Just really trying to get out of the blue funk that has had a hold on me since the beginning of the year...if the sun stays and the warmth comes...I am well on my way.
As I have always said, you ladies are truly an inspiration and a great bunch of support! Although I do not have the triumphs that you do, I really am glad to be a part of you.
happies:
Monday...sunny....
Did I say sun?
Standing upright, breathing, relatively healthy! Can't beat that!
Love to all,
