Beef has a lot of iron, along with dark leafy greens.
What signs of iron deficiency did you have? I am really tired at the end of the day and almost fall asleep on the couch by 7:00 every night.

when my iron is low i bruise quite easily, not sure if this is a standard symptom, just what i've noticed.

avoid drinking tea with food as this can hinder the absorbtion of iron apparently (according to gillian mckeith anyway)

Here is a list of high iron food from the American Dietetic Association

    100% fortified ready to cereals
    Instant Grits
    Cream of Wheat
    Instant oatmeal
    Cooked Soy beans
    Canned White Beans
    Lentils
    White Rice
    Spinach
    Beef
    Baked Beans
    Vegetable/Soy Burger
    Soy Milk
    Chickpeas
    Kidney Beans
    Sardines
    Almonds/Pistachios
    Cooked Brussel Sprouts
    Eggs

You can also do an Iron supplement---just make sure to take Vitamin C with it for better absorption! And iron in a supplement from can cause constipations---just be aware!

My daughter and I both are anemic, controlled through diet (and a multi-vitamin). This site, http://nutritiondata.self.com/foods-000119000000000000000-w.html, is our best resource.

    Lean meats, of course.
Prune juice, if you like it.
Wheat germ is easy to add to other dishes.
Potato flour is a great thickener and high in iron.
    Whole oats
    Seaweed (Nori)
    Whole eggs
    Sweet peppers
    Thyme (the spice)
    Potatoes, with skin
