Putting it out there.

I've never actually dieted before in my life. I've never been a skinny girl, but always had a healthy figure. I'm athletic, and was always involved in sports. I was always aware of the fact that I was heavier than average, but I didn't care because I felt like my body was right for me. Since I've been out of college (the last 5 years or so), I have slowly been packing on the pounds. Most of it is due to lifestyle changes...a desk job, more stress, lack of physical activity, and just plain eating too much.

When I first checked out this website about 3 weeks ago, I plugged my specifics into the BMI calculator, and got a serious reality check. It said I was borderline obese. OBESE. I could barely wrap my head around it. I knew I needed to make some life changes. Immediately.

So, here I am. And it seems to be working for me so far. The MFP program actually motivates me to stick to it, and I appreciate how supportive you all are of each other from what I've read on the boards. It's even helped me to tell my loved ones that I'm trying to lose weight, even though I was extremely embarrassed & secretive at first. They've been very supportive, and it makes it so much easier.

I am new here too. But unlike you, I failed to check-in on my weight until now; being 20- years after graduation.
I commend you to get control of your health now! I won't give the specifics of why I just came from the hospital today, but let me re-inforce (if I may), PLEASE make fiber a crucial part of your diet. And when you do, include LOTS of water. this helps so many problems from heart disease to stomach/colon cancer.
You are doing the right thing for yourself and I know you will do well!!
