Kind of tired of the know-it-alls...

I love the message boards! They are fun and inspiring and help me to learn new things to help lose weight. One thing I am tired of is all the know-it-alls posting topics that degrade the questions of newbies or other members who want help. Not all of us are weight loss experts. Not all of us have been of MFP for months and months. Not all of us have time to sit and read the message boards all day long to search for an answer to our questions.

So, if you are one of the members who post the icky topics about dumb questions, lack of knowledge or other things that bother you then maybe it is time to get off the message boards for a bit. Or if you see topics that infuriate you, DON'T LOOK AT THEM! Some of us are here to learn and grow in our health journeys. Not to read negative topics and posts about how dumb some of the message board topics are. If you are knowledgable and can help a new member to learn the right way to lose weight, then please do so in a respectful and kind manner. Posting topics about how annoyed you are isn't really the way to do it!

Good thought. But, there is a very handy search option that can lead to many answers ;-)

See..you do learn something new everyday! I didn't realize that, or hadn't looked very well. Thanks for letting me know - and doing so in a kind way! ;)

Thankfully, I haven't run into any of those posts. I'd probably say something mean to the OP and point out that rather than post something snide you could gently point the newbie to the search functionality.

We're here to be supportive and we need to realize that every day brings new people here. If you hang out on these boards for long, you're going to see the same things posted time and time again, and if you're helpful, you'll post the same answers time and time again, too.

    I agree

And I also thing that even though there are a million posts about the same things, it's really valuable to be directly involved in the dialogue. It's different reading old posts than it is interacting with people. Forums are more for interaction, otherwise I would google the question and read through articles. I appreciate the real time feedback from members of this community.
