i do the same. i pack my lunch of a morning, and decided what im having for dinner while at work. i log everything for the day first thing in the morning. and then based on my workouts, and the approximate burn im guessing for the night, ill add as the day goes along.

I normally log everything in the morning. I pack my lunch each day so I know that and I also preplan my dinner so I know that as well. It gives me a way to either increase what I have to eat for the day or change things around if I'm over. I use it like I use my financial budget.
actually, this is pretty good if you the ability to structure your day and plan each meal...... unfortunately I am in a situation where I cant do that..... but good plan!!

I pre-plan everything as best I can. Dinner is not always known because I work at a place so it depends what they are serving and it changes and they do not always know the night before.

When I'm home I log as I eat since the computer is always within reach, but for work days I tend to log my day in the morning, helps me plan my snacks and the like for work so I can ensure I'm getting to my calorie goal.

I do a little of both, pre planning is key for me on weekends, especially on non workout days... if I put it in ahead I can avoid the "oh crap, I should have eaten that!!" moment! Easier to put it in ahead and adjust portions or leave something out if it's too much.

I usually add as I go.

I plan my day out while I'm eating breakfast then modify the entries as I go. I exercise at night so I need to plan my meals to make sure I'm getting enough calories in beforehand.

I usually eat whatever i'm in the mood for at breakfast, and then plan out what i'll have for lunch and dinner after that. It helps me to stiick to it, especially later in the day when I get snacky!

I do a combination. The night before, I'll enter in my meals and snacks for the next day, but then if I decide I want something different (usually for snacks), then I'll change it but since the other stuff is already in there, I will know if it will fit into my goals. I've been bad about doing this on weekends, though, but since we aren't eating out as much, it's been easier to do.

I do both. Some days when I think I'm going to be over, I experiment with what I can eat ahead of time so I don't blow it. Other days, I just eat and add as I go.

I usually put in what I'm planning on making for dinner during the morning, since that's usually our largest meal. I eat a lot of the same things for lunch and breakfast, so then I have an idea on how many calories I have for snacks. If I know we are having a big dinner then I know I have to get a workout in.

I used to add as I go but recently ( last month or so) I've been inputting my food ahead of time. This way I know what I have to work with plus it keeps me mindful of what I'm planning to put in my body. If it's something not so good for me I look at those empty calories and decide from there whether or not I really need to eat it. It helps a little with a guilt factor to keep me on track. On the flip side I can also tell whether or not I can afford the indulgence and if I've been good for the day, I enjoy ;P.
