so if any of you are like myself.. I have a HUGE and expensive gym in the garage, full of different types of machines and training aids... but we moved in the summer and my husband has not gotten around to setting most of it back up! and well Im in North Eastern Ont. ummmm brrrrrrrrrr -19 is not really a temp I like to be outside in working out all that much!
Not to mention I have a 2.5yr old and a 3.5month old... mummy's busy!

So......... I find ways around the house when I cant get to my classes, which by the way we live out of town, and have 2ft of snow right now! So classes have been far and few!
~ I do a TON+ of laundry... and when I do my laundry I always have on my wrist weights! I put 5 lbs on each wrist and fold all laundry, which is never just 1 load!
~I like to be on the comp. when their busy or napping, so I use my inner thigh press thing' when Im sitting and typing!
~When I do the house work, I switch my wrist weights and put them on my ankle's
~I do full squats when picking up my chils toys
~And pushups when Im waiting for the kettle to boil, etc.

These are just a few ideas, I use when stuck inside! I hope they work, I can post more later if anyone is interested! Every little bit counts right!!!

  • i have started to play tennis + bowling on my husbands new nintendo wii, it takes a lot of energy, and your jumping around a lot of the time, we get very competitive too, so are always trying to out do the other one! x :flowerforyou:
  • Those are really good ideas. For when I can't go to the gym, I've found my stability ball and handweights to be a total lifesaver. There are tons of exercises you can do on them in a very short amount of time (20-30 mins. a day). You should probably do it all at once, for max benefit, but if you're pressed you could break it up too. Have you checked out Wish Magazine? (www.wish.ca). They have a 20-min. Shape Up Club, which I've been following. All the exercises are on their website and can be done at home. I started out just following that program, and then increased the reps / difficulty as I got stronger.

I can do push ups now!!! I've never been able to do a push-up in my life!!!

I checked out this website and signed up for the 20 minute shape up club and the 20 minute supper club.... It looks like a great site. Thanks for the tip!
  • Is that the right web address? I can't find it and it sounds brilliant!
  • Their website appears to be totally down right now. I'll post a link in a new thread when it's back up and running.

You could also google www.wish.ca and look at the cached version. Or, if you live in Canada, you could buy the magazine, which features some of the workouts.
