Low resting heart rate

So far I have lost 38 pounds. When I was at my heaviest my resting heart rate was 92. Now that I have been exercising regularly and I am in better shape my resting heart rate is between 56 and 64. It used to be no problem for me to get my heart rate up in the 130's or so. It also took longer for my heart rate to return to normal. Now that my RHR is so much lower I can only get my heart rate up to between 90 and 110. I have some physical limitations, so I am not doing anything super intense like running or kick boxing! I usually walk about 3 MPH for about 3 miles, do a cardio aquasize class, do some strength training with 5 lb. weights, and crunches. It is hard for me to do anything with a higher intensity. Is it important to get my heart rate up higher than the 110? I know I would burn more calories if my heart rate was higher. With my resting heart rate being as low as 54, is 110 high enough? I just need some advice.

Thanks in advance,

Angela

I heard that if you move your arms above your head while your walking, it raises you heart rate. When I do the 2 or 3 mile walk with Leslie Sansone I knoe my heart beats faster when I raise my arms and do some sort or arm moves.

    I hope this helps.
