I was just wondering if any of you who have lost a lot of weight (like were obese or morbidly obese) were able to really tone up the giggly part under the arms? I feel like its going to be impossible for all that to "lift"..lol.

I was 240 when I started and was able to tone mine just by walking..still a little flab, do pushups, use handweights, or any exercise that involves your arms and give it a try..eat protein to fill in those muscles! :happy:0

Triceps are really hard to tone up. Natural day to day movements work the front of the arm all to time. The back of the arm - not so much. You have to pick out some exercises just for the back of the arm. Tricep dips (kinda like an inverted pushup) - tricep kick backs - and overhead presses are good.0

Now that I am jogging and running rather than walking I have noticed an improvement in my "arm jiggle" beyond the muscle I have been getting from strength training.
I use my arms a lot more vigorously while jogging and running than while walking (even fast walking or walking on an incline) and both actions move the arms in different ways (for me at least).
When I first started I felt "flap flap flap" from my arm fat hitting my sides and now that really doesn't happen anymore, which is a win in my book. The "jiggle" certainly isn't gone, but if I can see a real difference, being a notorious self-detractor, then it is definitely there.
Just anecdata, I wish I had a more definitive answer for you.0 -
I use the shake weight, and I never thought it would work until I got it as a gift. :drinker: It is HARD to get those minutes in though... my arms are SORE after, but I'm getting the results I want, so I'm happy!! :flowerforyou:Sure enough, my arms ARE starting to get slimmer... only been using it a week, for 6 -7 minutes a day, and I can tell a difference.0

Good to know those work. I showed them to my husband once when I was wondering if they worked or not....his response "I have something you can shake like that"....it was then and there I knew I could never use them without constant jokes.0 -
LOL yeah my husbands that one who go it for me.. and yes he did laugh at first, but after a few days all I got was "eh boy, your at it again" and "I'm starting to get jealous of that thing!" .. but yeah it really has been working, so you should give it a try and if you don't want to buy THAT particular thing, you can do that type of movement with hand weights, I just don't know if the inches would come as that fast. :ohwell:0

bump for later...I have terrible saggy underarms - very embarssed by them. Would love to know!0

Pushups, bench presses and dips will do double duty to firm up your triceps and chest muscles, as well as your shoulders. They'll also burn a lot more calories than doing strictly arm exercises.0

I have noticed that running helps. Just had to share that last night I was wearing a tank top for my run...after, just to be silly, I flexed my arm and WHAT did I see? muscle, tone, definition...all with my upper arm area (lower just hung there like a b*tch). But I was so excited!!!! I have never been able to do this EVER with my upper body. Have been doing hand weights after every run for 5-10 minutes (so 5-6 times a week) and I guess the hard work is paying off.0
