NSV - I overate

Ok, this one is going to sound kind of strange, but hear me out. Tonight for dinner, my wife wanted to try a new pizza place. So we ordered a pizza, (pan, of course,) cheesesticks, and a nice cinnamon, frosting dessert thing.
I ate wayyyy too much and, by my best estimate, overshot my calories by around 1200 or so.
But that's not the good part.
The good part is I'm not kicking myself. I'm not thinking my diet is shot forever, (as I have in years past.) I know the scale is going up tomorrow, but I'm just going to pick up in the morning where I started this morning.
This does not end my diet.
I shouldn't do this all the time, but if it happens, it happens.
I will continue on, and, pizza be damned, I WILL get there!

That's awesome for you. That's how you have to go about it if you want to stick with this in the long run! Just don't make a habit of it lol0

One meal isn't going to put your diet to shot and it's good that you can understand that and not beat yourself up about it. Just remember (like I know you are) that tomorrow is a new day and things can only go up :-)0

actually, doing that once in a while (not once a WEEK, once in a WHILE, like a month...) is GOOD for your metabolism. And it will help you NOT to plateau.
So good for you for enjoying a night out and not beating yourself up over it.0 -
good for you! once you finally get in the frame of mind that all hope isn't lost after one day, that's how you know you're in it for the long haul. keep up that great attitude.0

Life gets in the way!
As long as you pick yourself back tomorrow you'll be FINE. When that happens to me I usually go for a jog that same evening, and then do an extra mile or two of running the following day. Mentally, it does wonders. And any little extra amount of exercise over the next week will completely rid yourself of this "mistake".
Don't dwell on it. Move on, and think of the nice night you had with your family to make you enjoy this meal... :-)0 -
Awesome mindset!0

Why do we do that!? One of the most difficult things about changing is realizing that this is a long term plan. Why do we want to punish ourselves for such benign sins and throw the baby out with the bath water? I struggle with this all the time, but I think I am getting better. At least I recognize when I am doing it now. That alone helps turn my thinking around and get back on the wagon much quicker. Very thought provoking post. Thank you0

That's right no need to kick yourself as your not on a diet, you have changed your lifestyle! So if once in a while you eat something a bit naughty you know that's not the end of the world as you are in control not some diet.0
