What's more dependable HRM or the machines?

So, I just bought an HRM and I use it to see how many calories I'm burning during a workout.

My HRM says I'm burning certain number of calories where the machine I'll be using (ex: treadmill) says different, should I go by what my HRM says or the machine I'm on????

I'm thinking the HRM, but I wanted to know what you guys thought, please let me know!! =)

If your machine has a HRM then it might be about as accurate, but otherwise I would trust the stand alone HRM.

HRM by a long shot. Especially if it's a chest strap type.

If it is a chest strap it is the most accurate.

By far the HRM. The machine ones tend to over estimate.

Definitely your heart rate monitor, especially if you are using a chest strap. Equipment numbers are an estimate at best.
Every singe person burns calories differently, even if doing the same exact workout at the same exact pace and exertion.
