Hello. I am really glad to be back on this site. I was here about two years ago. At that time I weighed 270 and had at least 70 to lose. I lost 30 pounds with the help of this site. Then life got in the way again and before I knew it I was back up at my 270 pounds. Two years later I am at 290. I have put on 10 pounds for every year of marriage. What can I say? My wife is a great cook. I don't stop at one serving, I want more.

I have also become an "emotional" eater also. When I feel depressed, I want junk food. Never was like that before two years ago. I was just someone who ate too much and never exercised. Now I am that but also eat when things are getting me down. Oh boy! Weird for a guy I think to have "emotional" eating problems, but here I am!

I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 6.5 year ago. I am not using an insulin pump to help me maintain my control. I was doing good, then last year for some reason I stopped caring as much and lost control. Things happen, and I can't beat my self up. What I do know, is that I need to keep track of everything that I eat and every bit of exercise to be successful. By keeping track, I am making myself accountable. I am more aware of how much I am eating. And they even have an application for my Android phone! Now, that makes things easier for on the go instead of trying to remember everything and coming home and putting it on the computer.

I need to do this for my family. I am 46 years old. I am overweight (severely) and have diabetes. My three children are under seven and the youngest is a boy that is 2.5. I need the energy to keep up with all of them, but especially my youngest. Too tired after work to play a lot of times. I ache a lot. This is all pretty much do to excessive weight.

So, I need to lose at least 90 pounds. I will do this by keeping track of what I eat and exercising as much as possible. I have been walking and biking, so this is a great start for me. I hope to add weight training again, but I want to lose the first 20 pounds beforehand. Need to get my wind back.

Anyways, it is great to be back. I am not going to go anywhere anytime soon. When I do finally make my goal, I will continue here to help me maintain. I have found that it is very easy for me to gain it back and fast. I was 170 in 1995. I looked too thin at that weight, and my doctor thinks 200 would be good for me, but we will see after I get there. I am excited to get started. If anyone needs encouragement or prayers, I will do. God Bless and good luck in all of your healthy endeavors. Thank you for reading this.

It's great you are getting yourself back on track. It sounds like you need to do this, it is not an option. Take it slow and pray.

Welcome back. You can do it. You were successful once using MFP, and I'm sure you know it will help you now on this journey.

    Hello, welcome aboard!

I joined last year but got sick, so that sort of took priority. However, I came back at the beginning of April, with just over 60lbs to lose, and guess what? It's working! It will work for you too, especially given the amazing support here.

Do feel free to add me (that goes for anyone else, particularly if we're of a similar age - I'm 47).

I "re" starting a healthy lifestyle also. I have never been up against something so tough to do. I don't have as much weight to lose as you do but I promise it is a constant struggle to have motivation to do something about it. Good luck and think about your children, they need their dad. :flowerforyou:

Welcome back I think like all the others that have reply to your post, You have made you first step the rest should be easy, You got your most important inspirations witch are your children. Mine are too, specially my youngest I only have 2 but my youngest one is the one who motivates me and incourage me to keep going everyday even when I have bad days and I am exsactly like you I eat when I am down or depress and it isn't good. Just keep doing what you doing and I think you will do fine. Just feel free to add me as a friend I think we all need all the motivation we can get. Good luck in our journey.,

I am new i found this app and it is easy to use and convenient. I am recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes well at least on the edge and I have eat right and exercise. Since I have been using this app and exercising Curves, the Zumba circuit and walking I have lost 4.5 lbs. My tendancy to have diabetes is based on genetics. At one point I was successful with controlling my blood sugar but due to stress it has gotten out of whack. I am taking medication and the rest I guess is one day at a time.
  • Well welcome.....Now is the time to focus and watch the pounds drop.
