Too much protein?

do you think you can actually eat too much protein?
I've just had lunch put it in the tracker and I'm already over on my allowance set by mfp. I've only had 2eggs and chicken that carries substantial amounts of protein and I know dinner will be chicken stir fry.
I understand the limit on sodium/fat/sugar but I ignore the protein one is that wrong?

If you find you are always over in Protein but are always under your carbs. You can lower you carbs and it will automatically raise your protein in your goals. I lowered my carbs and it works for me. Also instead of Whole eggs try 1 whole and 1/2 cup egg whites.0

I eat low-carb and I eat about 150-175 grams of protein everyday. I think there is such thing as "too much", but it's different from person to person. For me, this is how I feel my best and lose weight. Personally, I also eat more fat than MFP allows-- but I use it to for energy in place of carbohydrates. If what you're doing is working for you, and your vitals/cholesterol/bloodwork is good, I say leave it alone! Different people have different body chemistries. You're doing well weight loss wise, so I say keep on keepin' on.0

mfp uses a certain ratio of carbs/prot/fat but different body types respond differently to different ratios
i have a 40% protein 30% carbs and 30% fat ratio set up under customize goals
but as far as talking grams goes......my trainer tells me to shoot for 100 grams per day right now and he tells his really active clients 1 gram per pound of lean body weight they want to be.....0 -

More protein is better than carbs! I keep my carbs at 100 and my protein at 110.0

The default setting for protein is very low on MFP. You can easily and safely double or triple it. I would adjust it so that you're getting 30-40% of your calories from protein. If you leave it like it is (15%, I believe), then I would look at it as a minimum goal to reach each day, while the fat and carb goals are maximums.0

I have an awsome job sometimes and I run into the neatest people. The other day I had an event that one of the guests was a digestive specialist. She said that it's good to add protein to each of your meals, including your snacks and watching your portions, because it will aid in your weightloss. Her exact words were if it grows on a tree, crawls on 4 legs or comes from the ground you can eat it. Just remember the closer to nature the better. So I always try to keep nuts, peanut butter, greek yogurt, homemade jerky and just add a bit to each meal.0

Excess protien will be stored as fat in your body. It can also dehydrate your body and make your kidney's work harder. If you have existing kidney problems excess protien can make them worse, but several studies have failed to show that the extra strain caused by excess protien does healthy kidneys any harm.0

When you are dieting, your body needs extra protein to keep from losing your weight in muscle mass instead of fat. This is especially true if you are getting a lot of exercise. The muscle you are building need the extra protein in order to stay healthy. I'm not sure how you can determine what is right for you. In our area of the country, we have Cold Fusion enterprises that sell Herbal Life. They use a body montior that not only shows your body fat, but it also shows your muscle mass. If your muscule mass decreases between measurements, your protein intake is increased. On their program, my protein target per day was 140 grams.0

I am always way over my protein. I think it's better to have a surplus of protein over carbs.
Plus it's good for muscle retention...definitely something you want to keep!0
