I have noticed that on my workout days that I do not have a weight loss the next day. However, after a rest day I do have loss. Is this normal? I know I've lost close to 2 pounds this week but hope this doesn't mean that I will be stalling out soon. Plus how should my workouts be designed? I normally workout 2 days in a row and then have a rest day. Should I be doing 1 day workout and then rest? Thanks for any help you can give!

I think that's because on your workout days you drink more, which adds weight. Then the next day your body has burned energy repairing any muscle damage, and drained out the water (exercise fills the muscles with fluid), so you see a loss.

I'm the opposite. I have a loss after a hard workout day but after rest days I usually just maintain. Guess we are all different!!
  • I'm the exact same as you - I stay the same or gain after a workout, then when I rest I dump weight. I like to think it's fluid retention...but really I have no idea what's up!

It's because your muscles are retaining water after a workout so when you rest, you release it.

I noticed the same thing! And its so frustrating. Last week I worked out hard every day of the week and stayed under my calories, the scale said I gained two pounds! So last weekend I didn't workout at all and didn't count any calories and ate junk food like twice, and Monday it said I was back down a pound and a half. It doesn't make sense!

Hi I'm kind of new here: on and off online but On all the time with my diet and workouts since february.
I am glad for your question I usually have the same thing. On the next day I feel all sucked in, great feeling !

I have this ongoing question and I keep searching on the web...

So I am working out 3-4 times a week: Turbo Jam, power yoga, Lotte Berk method and ballet.
I eat well, cut on portions, carbs, sugar and salt. I eat smaller more often meals; BUT keep on gaining weight.

My body is getting very firm and muscular I see definition, my belly is quite flat : lost a couple of inches on waist but gained on hips and chest...
This is driving me nuts!!!!! LOL !

I just keep going and I know it's a great thing to be fit but I wish I would get leaner....
Anyone knows something I dont ???

    Thanks !!

Indeed it is normal. Your body uses the water to help with the repair work of fixing the muscle damage that occurs with every intense workout (along with protein, which is why it's important to have a high protein snack right after your workout).

Just keep well-hydrated and you'll keep flushing it all out. Cut back on sodium and that'll help with any 'extra' water retention.
