The lady who host Biggest Loser, who is pregnant, said it best, "Everyone says you're eating for two, but you have to remember that one of those two is only 5 oz."

I have complete faith in you kiddo.
Remember, you aren't alone here....there have been several others you are currently pregnant that are maintaining weight....

I am still hoping MFP will come up with an option for that.
Hmmmm, you know that would be a great addition to this site! To be able to include pregnancy in your goals and have it adjust accordingly to help you stay in control!

    Eliltcal at level 19!?:noway:

ALL BOW TO THE GREAT AND MIGHTY TAMSTER!!

I am lucky i get thru 40 min at level 3!

There is a great story with this too...about the gym and a young buff guy standing infront of me, like "I know this fatty isnt going to be long" I was doing like 5-10 min a day working my way up. I wanted a better workout than the treadmill. Anyway. He stood there, staring right at me, looking at his watch. That was so rude, but gosh I thank him. That was the 1st time i did 45 minutes..sweating like a pig...feeling like Rocky! I smiled at him as I got off the machine and said Hey, bet you thought it was going to be a short wait..he looked bewildered and said " i am waiting for my girlfriend on the machine next to you, i am done with my work out, great job on yours!!" :embarassed:

( i couldnt walk right for 2 days!!)

My last child is 19 years old so I really am not in a position to give advice, but it seems like you have it under control. You have been able to set your sights on your goals and achieve them. I believe you will do the same during pregnancy because it's all about healthy living for both you and the baby. By the way, I love your quote

I had to count every calorie, watch all my sugar and weigh in weekly. I gained 18 pounds. I walked out of the hospital at 115 pounds with a healthy baby and healthy body.

i had a friend who only gained 11 pounds on her pregnancy, I saw her a week before she had the baby and it scared the crap out of me because she looked like she lost SO much weight every where except around her belly of course, something about the weight she was carrying just went to the baby or something. Her doctor said it was okay and safe, I personally wouldn't recommend it though.

    GOOD LUCK TAMI!!!

Tam-Good luck trying for a baby. A mother with your kind of dedication and endurance is much needed in this world.
I gained 63 pounds with my pregnancy. Two weeks after delivery I was 167, so I know that not all that was the Cheetos and bacon/egg/cheese biscuits. I think keeping a food diary will help you maintain a healthy weight during that pregnancy. Might have made a difference for me. Somewhere I heard that you need to eat 300 more calories a day. So add 300 calories to your day. Maybe add an exercise called pregnancy that burns 300 calories? This way you can still set a goal to eat the right things in the right amounts?

Somewhere I heard recently that the recommended pregnancy gains were too much. It was a news article, and contains a different weight gain recommendation. You might be able to find it. I couldn't, but I'll keep looking.

Good luck Tam-Hopefully with all the girls on here trying for a baby, we can have a forum open for pregnancy. Hubby and I will start trying at the beginning of October. I know I have a lot I can learn from you, and as educated as you try to be about things, I look to you for advice.

Basically it was a little different with me because I struggled with depression, but my little guy is so worth what I'm fighting, you already have a little guy so you know what I mean when I say that. With that being said I guess what I'm trying to get to is just try to keep up with what you've been doing, stay strong, keep exersizing (under dr's care, of course). So my advice is enjoy getting pregnant, enjoy being pregnant, be mindful of what your eating (but give into cravings once in awhile haha) and stay active. I let myself go and have a hard time fully enjoying being a mom now because I'm wasting so much time concentrating on how much I weigh. Don't make the same mistakes I did, and have fun with it!!

This is so well said!!!! You will do GREAT Tam! I think you will be so excited once you are actually pregnant that you won't care about all the stuff you are worrying about right now! You can still excercise while you are pregnant (just think how cute you will look with that baby bump on the treadmill!!!!! ) and look at what you have accomplised thus far, you will have no problems losing the baby weight (unless I talk you into coming to Mogehan all the time ) I think what I am trying to say is that being pregnant is so special, treasure it, it will be over before you know it!!!

    Have fun trying

    Thanks to the new comments!

I am getting more and more excited. It is going to be hard to wait for a couple more months but I think I can do it!

I am looking forward to continuing my exercise and maybe trying new things like yoga and pilates...I will explore different ways to stay strong. And I know how to eat healthy for both myself and the baby. Like I said, I have a couple of months to get used to the idea of HAVING to eat more!

I actually read an article yesterday that said you don't have to eat anything extra for the first trimester. Just focus on eating enough to maintain...and then in the 2nd and 3rd trimester...to add 250-300 cals a day.

I will just stay active on here and you all can help me stay on track! :)

And douganl.....I am SO going to save up for the hush puppies at that bbq place at Mohegan! OMG! YUM!!! We have got to start planning that meetup!

It's been a long time since I was pregnant. I actually lost weight with my first two and was gestational diabetic with my last one. Anyway, I found this kinda cool little calculator and thought I'd share. I dunno. I just thought it was kinda neat. I entered my weight in from before I was pregnant with my last and it calculated 20lbs. It was right. 352nmsp.gif

I know you're currently thinking pregnancy pounds, but those translate to after baby pounds as well... So I'll step up on my soapbox for just a sec...

    Yep...It's been a LOOOONNNGG time , but my best advice for those after the baby pounds is,breast feed. The ONLY time in my life I was able to eat, lose weight and feel wonderfully healthy. My best adult weights were after my babies. There are lots of opinions out there, just that my experience was so positive I had to get up on my soap box. :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: (yak, yak, yak) {climbing down now....}

It's so funny, now that we know we want to start trying around the end of October, I am checking out all the fertility stuff online!

When I got pregnant last time, it was literally..."Hey, wanna start trying?"...........and we did and I seriously think it was one of the first few times we tried that I got pregnant! I mean, it was late Feb of 2006 when we "Stopped being careful"(as we called it)....and I found out on March 20th that I was pregnant!

HOPEFULLY, I will be that fertile this time around!!! Maybe I should just relax about it all and see what happens!!
  • Tam, congratulations in advance!!!! I don't know much about exercising when pregnant (my "baby" is 22 years old now!) but i do know that i see LOTS of women at my gym in all stages of pregnancy doing all sorts of workouts! I know that after a certain point you shouldn't do lots of heavy weights or really strenuous cardio, but im thinking that in today's world you can certainly do much much more than you would have ever been allowed in our mother's world. And i think that every time you go to the gym you will be making your pregnancy easier on your body, your body healthier for your baby, your labor and delivery easier, and getting your pre-pregnancy body back easier.

Plus, i think you should start looking into getting a great big suite at the hospital for the grand occassion. You'll need room for all of us to be right there with you! :)
