Cholesterol

I recently went to the doctor for my yearly physical required by my health insurance company. The health requirements you must meet are: BMI less than 29%, Non smoker, Cholesterol <200, Blood pressure <130/80, Blood sugar <120. Last year I met almost none of those requirements! This year I met and exceeded them all. This entire time I had been attacking my weight loss goals and physical fitness mostly for vanity reasons. I wanted to LOOK good. But when my doctor handed me a graph showing my total cholesterol had dropped from 207 to 136 in 5 months, I realized the even bigger benefit I was gaining- good health! I no longer fear going to the doctor because I know the scale won't depress me, and the blood pressure cuff won't be my enemy.

    That is awesome!

I first started exercising and watching what I ate because I had borderline high cholesterol. As soon as I changed my eating habits and lifestyle the numbers went way down - and I now look forward to my annual physical because I love that my blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, resting heart rate etc are all healthy and thats as big of a reward as being thin!

I too mainly watch my diet for vanity (lets face it - I feel good when I am thin!) but the health benefits keep me motivated as I have a family history of diabetes, high cholesterol, high BP, heart disease etc.
