Flaxseed oil vs. fishoil

I really, really hate taking fish oil, it always gives me indigestion. I was wondering if flaxseed oil has similar health benefits? I can take it without the gross burbs, and I eat fish on the regular already so I am HOPING I can avoid fish oil altogether.

Fish oil is the only place you can get Omega-3 fatty acids. Flaxseed has other essential fatty acids and is good for you, but it's not the same and does not provide your body with the same things. Your brain needs Omega-3 fatty acids. If you eat a lot of fish you may be able to get away with not taking fish oil pills, but be careful with what fish you eat. Make sure it's low in mercury and is caught using eco-friendly means. Farmed fish isn't as good for you nutritionally and isn't good for the environment.0

i take flaxseed oil and it doesn't have the pungent smell that fishoil pills have!! and if you're eating plenty of fish all on your own, then i suggest flaxseed!

I eat only wild caught salmon, talapia, cod, halibut, and tuna and occasionally shell fish. The thought of farm-raised, poo-eating fish makes me gag.
Thanks guys, I feel better about this now! I have a TON of flaxseed in ground meal and oil capsule form, and am relieved to hear I'm not missing out on anything essential. :happy:0 -
Flaxseed does contain Omega-3 search it. The fish oil may contain a higher concentration but Flaxseed does contain it and to me there is no funny taste to it.
Oh and the most recommende (at least in my search) is ground flaxseed.0 -
bzmom - I just looked at my bottle, and it has listed under ingredients omega-3 (450 mg), omega-6 (110 mg), and omega-9 (110 mg) fatty acids. I don't know how much is recommended or in fish oil, but there is some in there which is good I guess!0

I take the Core Omega 3. Its a liquid kinda jely type that tastes like Orangesicles. Not to bad. My 8 year old daughter even takes one pack a day and she hates fish. She loves it. WE keep them in the refrigerator so they are cold.0

My flaxoil contains omega 3, 6 and 9 EFA's. I just hate that its 120 calories a tbsp!!0

I take the fish oil and it doesn't bother me. I used to take flaxseed. Can you take both?0
