Hey Everybody,
I'm going to be travelling around a lot this summer, first in New York for two months, and then home to Iowa before returning to San Diego for school. I'm really nervous about this, because it's so hard to stick to good diet and exercise while you're travelling around!

I was wondering if anyone is going to be in the same boat as me, and is interested in creating a travel support group for the summer, so we can hold each other accountable! Also we could post any travel related tips, and help each other as much as we can! Anyone in??

    I am DEFINITELY in.
In 2 weeks I'm going for a 5-day school trip and I'm in need of tips how to stay healthy.
In July I'm going to London and Paris - tips will be good, too :)

I won't be traveling much, but I will be away from home - doing fieldwork in a town that is totally not vegetarian friendly (I'm veg), and there's an ice cream shop and a bar on every corner lol I won't have my usual kitchen setup, but will be able to cook some. Do I count? I want in! :)

    Absolutely!!! :P

I think the hardest part of any diet and exercise regime is keeping up with it through a change in schedule or lifestyle. I can't tell you how many times I've been doing well - only to change jobs, or schools, or what have you - only to kill all my momentum! Let's all pledge to be super conscientious this summer and just stick with it! Even if you have one bad day, or two bad days, just get right back on the horse! I think the day after a splurge is the most important - if you get right back to your routine, it's a great self-reinforcement that you haven't quit!

YESSSS. im definitely in! a very good idea!

im travelling Europe for 4 weeks.
Its interrailing so we can go where we like really but our plans so far are Eastern (ish) Europe: Prague, Budapest, Vienna, Bratislava, couple of places in Slovenia and then a couple in Italy, and i dont remember where else.

i dont want it to ruin my travelling because im worried and not appreciating the food and culture but im also worried if i let myself enjoy it too much i will come back and have gained like a stone.

and i have noooo idea how i will manage a whole month without tracking anything because i will have no way of getting on to here every day, and totally foreign food will be impossible to track.
    this place is so addictive!!!

Wow! That sounds like an amazing summer! I'm so jealous! I definitely know what you mean about not wanting to ruin the summer - but also not wanting to kill all the progress you've made. We can do it!!! This will be a great exercise in moderation for all of us.

Man, 1 Week of finals, then 2 weeks of lethargy, and then the travelling begins!

I'm considering spending those two weeks off being anything but lethargic - I'm trying to figure out a way to get hours of exercise every day in preparation for my upcoming trip! The only thing I'm not sure about, is - is it a good idea to get my body used to crazy exercise like that? Will I start gaining weight when I leave for NY, and can't exercise that much anymore?

What do you guys think? And what all are you doing to prep for your trips?
