HI guys,

Are there any other dance teachers out there who have measured the number of calories they burn teaching. I am not standing in front not moving, but I don't move as much as when I take a class. At this point I liken teaching to low impact aerobics and taking to high impact aerobics.

I'm just curious if anyone else has any ideas.

thanks!

Best thing to do is get a heart rate monitor.

The best thing is really to try a heart rate monitor- your calorie burn will probably vary with each class you teach, and it's the most accurate way to keep track. My calories burned are always higher than what MFP says.

I'm a dance teacher as well and had the same question. i know I burn way more calories teaching my little ones, I am sweaty and exhausted after those classes but my teen classes don't require as much physical effort.

*** And I don't have the money for a heart rate moniter, dance teachers don't rake in the big bucks!
