I want to pick-up a new sport to get/stay in shape... I'm thinking either soccer or running.
What is your favorite sporting activity?

Running is fun! You can do it by yourself or in a group. If you decide to take it up, just make sure to transition into it slowly, like with the C25K plan.

Thanks! I used to run, but haven't in a long time. I enjoy the flexibility of doing it alone, when a group isn't available.

I miss basketball and volleyball :( (back issues mean that I shouldn't jump, kind of important to those sports, especially since I am only 5'4)

I would love to try water polo.

In the meantime, I dance and hoop.

oh volleyball is wonderful, but I haven't done it in years - water polo is supposed to be great though!

Never thought I'd run but have recently started. Run about 3 miles in 30 minutes. Enjoy it like I never thought I would!

I do love running and have a race tomorrow. I've also discovered kickboxing which is very empowering. I think cross country skiing would be interesting, and I'm also definitely going to try kayaking this summer :)

soccer, running, trail running, hiking, kickball--this is the perfect time of year to find a community team. Craigslist often lists teams looking for players under the "activities" section. You can sub in if you want to try something out, or see if anyone needs a regular player. That's how I ended up as the weakest link on a community adult kickball team :)
