I am 20 years old, and am curious if there are any vitamin suggestions that I could be/ should be taking. I've read woman should take folic acid even when they are not pregnant (true or not true?)

Does anyone happen to take anything now? Or wish they did when they were younger?

hey there! i am not pregnant or nursing, but i take a daily prenatal vitamin. it has everythinga woman needs and i feel crazy good on it! i see a nutritionist and she recommended this to me:

Morning-prenatal, b-complex, calcium, mixed strand probiotic
    Evening-fish oil, vitamin d, magnesium, and b6

if you can't do all of those, choose a prenatal, fish oil, and probiotic.

    good luck!

Iron, calcium and potassium are all important (that's the extent of my knowledge)- most multivitamins are pretty comprehensive but you might need extra calcium depending on how much you consume in your foods.

That you so much! About the prenatal, I am in a human growth and development class and it definitely suggests woman should take it anyways, especially if they want kids in the future, I guess the folic acid intake can affect babies before you pregnant if you didn't get enough before?

Im not a doctor or nurse, so I could by incorrect, but thats what my book seemed to say!!

    Thanks so much

Any more insight is always appreciated :D

Yep! That's what I've always been told. If a woman gets pregnant with already low stores of folic acid, the baby is already at risk for birth defects. So, a woman of childbearing age should make sure she gets enough folic acid, just to be safe!
