30 Day Shred - questions!!

Questions raised by other people but never got a response....
On the basic thought that muscles need to repair and therefore you should rest those muscles between workouts:
1. Can you do this workout everyday? Or does the fact that the weights used for the Shred are light (probably either 3 or 5 lbs) make it okay to do it every day? and
2. Is it okay to do the Shred in conjunction with my regular weight training routine, as long as my body feels okay?
Just wanted to check as to whether doing weight training (including the shred DVD) should be alternated on a daily basis with the 'rest' day from weight training being use to do cardio work??
Any thoughts or experiences welcome - thanks!! Vx

Everything in life is done in cycles, there is always stress and recovery period, think about the seasons, the days, our sleep, our eating. Always stress and recovery. The key here is, "The more intense the stress the more intense the recovery you need." The best thing to go by is how you feel, if you start to feel tired, and what not, you need to rest, or you will get burnt out, been there many times.
I don't know about the workout you mentioned, But this is how it should work, this is how elite athletes do it. They do high intensity training for a while, maybe like a month, then do low intensity for like 6 weeks, and alternate, This falls in to the pyriodization. Pro athletes "peak" on race day, well that is the goal.0 -
I am in the middle of the shred...day 18, and the first few days I came out a bit sore. I worked through I don't get sore anymore. I think the lighter weights make it easier.
I do the shred mon-sat and rest on sunday. I also work out monday through friday at they gym. 2 zumba days and the other three I do another class. This hasn't been to taxing on me. The shred is only about 25 minutes so I feel like I need to supplement with something else as well. It has worked out good for me
Good luck. You will know what your body needs!0 -
I ran into my personal trainer at the gym today and here are her answers, as I understood them:
1. Because with the DVD you'll be working the same muscles in the same way, you should not do it on consecutive days.
2. Because with your own weight training routine, you'll be working your muscles in different ways than with the DVD (i.e., higher weights, etc.), it's okay to do them along with the Shred.
So basically, what I think she said is that it's okay to do them both, but you should not do either one for consecutive days. (But it's okay to alternate Shred and regular weight training.)
This is the advice I'm going with....
